Awesome work... This would go great with my Black Canary (on motorcycle) by the same artist.
Zirk was created by Steve Moore (writer) and Brian Bolland (artist) in the early 1980s. It ran in the British Sci-Fi Anthology mag Warriors. I believe Brian Bolland did the art for most of the stories... Artist Garry Leach is also mentioned, but he might have been the inker for Bolland. Looking at the style of this piece, I can't tell if it's Bolland, Leach, or someone else... sorry.
Gorgeous... but with her there, who would want to ride the dragon? ;-)
I think most of David Brewer's stuff predates Deacon Black's... Personally, I think they are the same person, The pinup style is near identical as is the signatures... and Deacon Black is just too cool a name to be real.
Great page and FYI, this was a published DC series... it was out about the same time Sienkiewicz was doing the Shadow and Cowan was doing the Question. Whether this page was used or not, I'd have to pull out my old issues... not too sure but back then I think the pencils were inked over, so this one probably wasn't used.
Gotta love Benes! Samuree ran 9 issues, so this was more than likely published.
Sweet!!! Will Conrad is way too underrated. Great "Splash" page! (please pardon the pun)
Great piece... I just picked up Fastner & Larson's Tricks & Treats at DragonCon and they have the painted version of this pic on page 44. Had to get it because they hd the painted version of my Jatarri penciled piece in there also.
Wow... that's gotta be one of the sexiest Poison Ivy's I've seen!
Love the character design and Al Rio's commission really brought it to life, but now for a real-world question -- where do the swords go when she's not using them?
It appears to have the year '03... kind of odd since I believe Gene Day died in the early '80's... Could be wrong though.
