i was thinking to myself that every DWJ cover is a unique work of art........and man is this one something!! may be the best cover i've seen him do yet!
yeah, that was one idea. i've seen a guy that uses magnets on the bubble and then connects it to the art w/ magnets behind the card. that way nothing gets damaged. i may try that route if i knew where to just buy little magnets. seems like something common enough so it shouldn't be too hard.
did you take a look at the others in the gallery?
if you're not familiar with Mahdi's work then certainly look it up. i've been a fan for a couple years now and he has never let me down! completely self published but very high output.
Love Billy's work!! i came across his table at heroescon and it turned out i was familiar with his work but never put a name to it.
nice score!
my grandma used to paint and i remember my favorite pieces of her's were the side pieces she'd do like this when she'd be cleaning her brushes. i unfortunately do not actually remember any of the pieces though. at least i can help preserve Eric's here and in my collection.
man, i remember getting this comic stolen from me in middleschool.
classic cover indeed!!
congrats!
also, pretty sure that is one of Ashley Wood's robots from Zombie vs Robot in the middle tube there.
WOW!!! this is awesome. i have 2 Mars Attacks related pieces and am a fan of all these licences plus the artist. Great score!!
WOW!! its like a visual representation of John Cage's 4'33!
Melvins had a 7" called "Shit Sandwich" that could also work (b-side was "and you just ate it").
i love Giffen's work. his sense of style and humor always tickled my fancy.
i only own one page with the credits on it but i feel it adds something special when i see it on OA.
congrats!
this is awesome. i love the original secret wars plus i wasn't familiar w/ mike mckone's work until fairly recently but i'm impressed with everything i've seen of his. great score!
i've got a soft spot for major bludd b/c i think he was the one of the first joe toys i remember getting. him and duke. not sure which was first
i started off gesso'ing or painting in white the toy on the card. then some i started using spray primer b/c it's flat. then some artists (like jim mahfood) i just had the toy delivered straight to them from super7 so not sure what he did. finally, troy nixey took the bubble off himself, used his own materials, then glued the bubble on himself. i'm talking to one of my favorite artists right now and he wants to do it that route. i sent him pictures of all of the figures i have on standby (about 20!) and just waiting for him to pick which one he wants to do. he's not the fastest when it comes to at home commissions so not sure how long that will take. Jae Lee was supposed to do some but he ended up refunding me and mailing them back undone - which is fair. he was up front about everything and stayed in constant communication with me. next show i go to that he's at i may take them back to him though.
yeah, the super7 toys go for nostalgia more than quality scultpting for sure. i have a ton of them though b/c they hit all the right notes with me. the music ones especially. i'm a sucker. :D
you don't know how awesome i find this!!
wow!
Riddler was always my favorite batman villain and this design/look is what i see in my head when i think of him. great score!
Thanks for posting this! i was just looking at John's art the other day and amazed at everything. this came out awesome!

BKV is one of the only people i've ever been starstruck by.
i couldn't even say hi. he was just walking right past me so i don't think i made an ass of myself of anything but i can't remember ever having that happening to me.
WOW! classic. Mark Tex is awesome and yeah, his ghost rider was one of the best. great score!
Ha! The dogs would love the attention! I appreciate that at least one person would find it interesting! Thanks
i can't believe this was available at any time. WOW! i'll never forget that image. Great score!!

i was curious if it was for sale and now i got my answer.

The prodigal page!
its even already made out to you and everything!
congratulations on the reunion and yeah, fantastic page. i can see why you want it back!
I posted a sketch he did in my luchadore book but he did it before he got into wrestling. I'm very curious what he'd do in that book today. If (big if) I ever get a chance to get a doodle from him again I will have to find out. when I get a get sketch in that book I always tell the artist to just draw a luchadore of their design. I try to avoid duplicating artists but I think I can make an exception for DWJ.
i'm a huge fan of the van b/c it reminds me of A-Team
great collection of pages you have from this book!!
i was a fan from day 1 but for some reason slept on the pages. now they're all gone. :(
more to come i hope!
This was the only ape I got to visit. Other big alternative show I hit a few times was staple in Austin or the Houston zine fest but neither of those compared to what I saw at ape.
yeah, i've given away TONS of her drawings. one thing i like to do is get a portrait of a friend's pet to give to them. i've been trying to post as many as i can but just haven't had time. i have at least 20 of her doodlges and i'm sure i've given away just as many if not more.
unfortunately i haven't seen katie since before covid. maybe 2026 is the year!!
WOW!! Dream page right here!
I loved the way they snuck in some if the aliases (black elvis and king geedorah)
