Cool? Daddy-o, this is FROZEN!
Maybe so with The Banshee with her piggy snout!
Can't say I see any Rocksteady resemblances with Mordroc's dragon form though. Plus, these two baddies are nobody's comedic sidekicks!
Kinda wonder how far up the corporate totem pole he actually got!
As I recall, when Peter Laird was designing potential characters for the original Playmates toyline, he created a fly mutant that was distinct from Baxter Stockman (still a scientist from Mirage comics). At some point, both characters were merged into being two forms of the same person, thus giving us the "Super Fly" Baxter we all know and love. Ironically, the Mutant Mayhem movie took the opposite approach, starting with the idea of a Baxter mutating into a fly but then making him distinct (and dead) from the "Super Fly" mutant he created!
Probably some "fabulous" talent with the Max Rebo Band.
Thanks for chiming in! What a great piece it is!
A great incentive! And I imagine copies of those magazines are really sough-after in the collectiable market if you've still got your set!
I recently purchased an original lobby card that's a very similar frame to this, but it's amazing to see the original cel!
Yes, you can tell that John Pomeroy enjoys his work!
Notice also her cybernetic arm! Edson likes to toss in some unique details to characters he draws!
Considering her recent exposure in two official games, I am shocked NECA hasn't officially announced an action figure for her yet. Her body-build is probably a little difficult to figure out due to the elaborate dress and cape she wears.
You really should do some Valentine's Day card mock-ups for his artwork!
Ha! That would make quite a splash in grade school!
I agree! That's a good detail to observe. Definitely looks better without outlines too.
No doubt! It's a shame how many finished and detailed cels get obscured in classic cartoons because of questionable animation direction!
Thank you! I find researching the old episodes to match up frames to cels to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of this kind of collecting!
Yes, that Toys R Us sticker really does add something to the overall effect! I never had much opportunity to visit the stores back in the days when these cels would have been sold, but I imagine I would have coveted them greatly back in the day. Those prices really do seem like a bargain, even when considering the relativity of inflation rates.

I have a lot of fun theorizing about which cels come from which episodes, then re-watching them with attentive eyes!
I really varied. I don't think much thought was given to how "good" a cel looked," but it would be an interesting subject to hear about if anyone who worked with the promotional deal gave an interview. TMNT was surely one of the few popular cartoons that sold old animation cels at retail outlets.
Lovely piece! Don't think I've ever seen this published in any of the TMNT comics, and that's a much different look for April than any I've ever seen from Peter Laird. Was this a special commission?
Very memorable piece! Cool seeing it preserved in an online gallery!
This series' storyline let me down, but just about all the covers were amazing. Great seeing this one here!
I expect two different layers, but I will have to double-check.
Indeed! It's nice to be able to compare the original cel layers to bring out a little more clarity than could be seen in the completed episode.
Sounds like you are confusing Janine and Louis with Irma and Vernon from TMNT!
Yeah, this one came out great, and I've got a couple more Allan commissions I haven't shared yet!
A very impressive score on getting this issue's complete interiors!
They don't pop up on ebay much, so it's great when I have a chance to snag a good one! I've got another Rat King cel in my gallery from the same episode.
That's an epic slice of TMNT history!
