Wrong Cho, dude. I didn't draw that. Mike Cho drew that . But it looks great. :-)
I was really bored at NC Comicon on Sunday. The show floor was dead. There were absolutely no one around and I had nothing to do. So I did these two sketches for Ken while he kept me company. Nice guy.
David Tennant was the physical inspiration for the main character. I'm a big fan of Tennant's Doctor Who. :-)
Of course there's gonna be curvy women. It's my book, isn't it? ;-) Hey Fred, what happened to your "Facebook" page? It's gone. I can't make fun of you on "Facebook" anymore.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I really had a tough time handing this over to the art collector. But I knew it was going to a good home. :-)
I actually had fun drawing this. If Marvel ever asks me to do a Thanos variant cover or something, I would probably redraw this pose.
So far, the ink from the ballpoint pens have not faded or lost any of their crispness. Knock on wood.
HA! I've never seen this before. I always loved Budd Root's sense of humor and his lovely ladies.
Thanks, Budd. But let's face it. We all know what your wish would be, you filthy Ass-Man. ;-)
As that saying goes: "What happens in Vegas... makes you gay." ;-)
Thanks for the kind words guys. I was worried about drawing "Hope" character. She was a pain the in ass to draw since her age was all over the map. Her age ranged from 14 to 22 years old depending on who you talked to. So I settled for 18 and went with it.
Definitely, Sheila. Hope to see you at San Diego Comicon again.
Steve Morger is his name and keeping me out of jail is his game... that and finding toilets in Paris for me. ;-)
Aww shucks. Thanks for mentioning my name with those great artists.
Originally I was going to have the lizard sitting on her butt. But (excuse pun) I changed my mind.
Thanks for the kind words, Royd. I really liked how this turned out myself.
Damn Jet-lag! Irealized now that I forgot to draw in the bikini top strings around her back.
Motherfu$#er!!! I hate you, Dave. That was the cover to my first X-men comic book that I bought with my own money. Such fond memories. Paul Smith will always be the X-men artist for me. Awesome art collection as always, Dave. :-)
It's Green Hulk versus Red She-Hulk. The medium is just watered down India ink (Speedball) , not watercolor. Although now I think about, I should give watercolors a try next time.
Yes. I inked in the figures first then applied the ink wash. You layer in the ink wash over time and sometimes between layers, I would ink in more lines if needed.
It's a standard black ink Bic ball point pen with a meduim point that you see in offices. I got a box of 60 pens at the local Staples store. I've used about 5 ball point pens to draw this piece. After awhile, the ball point tip gets gummy or the ink flow becomes inconsistent, then I grab a new ball point pen from the box.
Dude, I don't know you and you've crossed the line. I suggest you behave yourself and not insult people you don't know, especially in this small comic art community.
It took me about 2 months to draw and ink that cover. This piece was so big that I couldn't use my regular drawing table. I got a big sheet of masonite board, put the board on the bed to use as a hard drawing surface, and essentially used my bed as a drawing table. I could only draw about 1 - 2 hours at a time since I was on my knee and stooped over my bed the entire time. It was a painful experience but worth the effort.
Thanks for doing a great job on the framing, Steve. That painting is here right next to my drawing table. Sanjulian is simply incredible.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I went ahead and posted a smaller jpeg. The bigger one was taking too much time to load. Here's a link to the bigger scan: http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/3415/newult001cover.gif
Yes, I'm doing BOTH the interiors and the covers for this series. Watch for it in early 2010.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I had a blast drawing this. Love those classic monsters. There's a bigger scan of this image at my website: www.apesandbabes.com
She DID burst out of her top and bottom on the first cover, but that got censored. ;-)
Took me a hour to cross hatch that big gamma radiated butt. ;-)
Ahhh. Me and my, as Amanda Conners put it, "CHO HOs". Good times...Good times...
Who's that lady on the left with the white hand bag?...Wha- that's a dude?...Oh, it's Bair. Never mind. ;-)
Yes, I'll be at San Diego Comicon this year. I'll be at the Image Comics booth again, peddling my smut.
