Jimmy approached longtime fantasy artist Ed Coutts for a donation and when Ed handed this one with Ms. Marvel to me I was bowled over. Perhaps the single most-impressive contribution at NYCC '09 from shear execution in detail rendering! And that's saying a lot considering some of the vets who generously gave to us this year.

Bob & Jimmy had been corresponding with the busy DC artists Jim Calafiore about a contribution for a while and he came through at NYCC '09 with this wonderful Ms. Marvel! Thanks, Jim!

This animated-style Batman donation was acquired through Jimmy from Christopher Jones.

I asked Jimmy for a contribution a year ago at NYCC but anyone who follows Jimmy's work knows that his schedule is insane as he's in high-demand in the industry as a writer and he moonlights as an inker occasionally these days;-) Jimmy came through this year at NYCC '09 with Cap in fill inked and colored glory and it was CERTAINLY worth the wait. One of a few ways that he has shown support to us and we are sincerely grateful!

Another acquisition through Jimmy from the generous J. P. Starlin of Thanos. Jim gave me my professional start in comicdom back in '92 and now I have yet another reason to owe him;-)

Congrats, Jerry! Mark was like the first one at NYCC '09 to complete this cover art for us upon request from Jimmy. A thrill for us since I would've imagined that he would've been way too busy with commissions to come through on time. Sometimes it's the right place, right time.

Our second sketch cover donation from the 'joltin'' one. Some may recall that Joe was the pencil and ink artists for several issues of Journey into Mystery with Thor after Kirby rendered the first few debut issues.

From what I understand through Bob Shaw, while the generous Peter Laird (and his Turtle artists) often draws, inks & colors the TMNT character faces for free at shows for fans, Peter hasn't done a fully-rendered turtle figure for like 6 years. We were the fortunate souls to receive this gift from him and the bidders took attention to the event!

Ken was one of the few contributors to actually read the Dark Reign # 1 issue. To refer to the story, he rendered in color Moonstone (Dr. Karla Sofen) receiving Ms. Marvel's uniform (from Norman Osborn) in order to replace her.

Andrew told me that he's a fan of Atlas/ Marvel's vintage girl comics like Millie the Model, Hedy Wolf, and Patsy Walker. Here he rendered 'Sherry the Show skrull', a take on Sherry the Showgirl from the 1950s Atlas comics.

Actually, now that I think about it, it was more than $10, but still affordable. And BTW thanks for the kind words, Paul. And the plug. Please also check out Quasar from Marvel, y'all:-)
