I keep saying the latest of these Derington commissions is my favorite, but come on- this one HAS to be the best one!

The foot testing the elasticity of the webbing has the creative spark of Ditko or Gil Kane... The hand making the cat's cradle effect in the web... it's better than any city background could have been, and it simplifies the piece in such a beautiful way. Just perfect.

Always cool when the symbiote suit has clawed fingers and some evidence of strain in the mask. The Spider-Man 2 game really leaned into that. Nice to see it here, too!

Agreed, I was baffled it went so high. Prices have been creeping up, but not to this level. Hope it's a one-off and not a trend.

Kane's Spidey is one of my favorites. Still lithe and athletic, but with real substance in the figure. He captures something that Ditko left behind in the character that doesn't always translate. This is a perfect example, and of course Romita's inks are instantly recognizable and a hand-in-glove fit for Kane's style.

Phenomenal addition, Bill. An absolutely iconic cover that could be shown anytime someone asked to explain Kirby's genius. WOW.

Vintage JSC! These just don't change hands very often. Great pickup, my friend!

The negative space of the sword really emphasizes its bulk. Also, the red on her tattoos defines her arm so clearly. Great pinup!

A novel, "coming atcha" Spidey pose that somehow isn't a butt/crotch shot! Fantastic cover with a great Ben Grimm reaction shot in the corner.

Yowza! That's a perfect Invincible cover. 

Maybe Cheung's two most signature characters. This issue was so special, to get to see him draw them both together, and this is one of the few pages featuring both!

Buh gawd! It's so close to the final cover, I wouldn't even think it was a prelim. How cool!

Just perfect JRJR. Everyone loves his Spidey in the rain, and this is from an ideal era of his ASM tenure. Congrats!

I see this one reposted often as an example of Bergara's stellar commission work, and for good reason. It's one of his very best.

Whyyyyy isn't there more published Bachalo Black Cat in the world? Because this page alone would have justified a limited series. One of those CAF pieces you come back to again and again.

Usually, I feel the colorist helps to translate Bachalo's genius for we mere mortals, but here, I think the inks tell the story even more clearly than the final published page. I keep trying to pick a favorite panel (it's the last one), but none of them make it an easy choice!

Any chance for a page where Bachalo takes on his iconic Magik design, you gotta take it! Love how the cube's line draws you right into the psychic attack's impact on Illyana. All that and some of Chris' close-up reaction shots... you've got yourself a winner!
