Glad you were able to pick this one up! Nice, splashy example from an underappreciated Tradd book.
One of my absolute favorites! If you'd ever sell or trade, drop me a line!
Really fun seeing this one at Megacon today- thanks for showing it off!
Great one! I remember this one as far earlier in the run than #42, but that's the level Bagley was working at during this period- most, if not all, covers felt fresh and essential. Congrats on another beauty!
Art Adams' covers sank the Queen Goblin hooks in our minds, but Bradshaw is a perfect pick for her dueling it out with Spidey. Love the intricate detail Nick includes behind the battle scene.
Perfect choice of characters for LaFuente! He is lovely to fans, as well. Had the chance to talk to him at Fan Expo Denver while he sketched for fans. This is really nice, Douglas!
Perfection from Julian. You can see the lava surrounding him on Mustafar just beyond our field of view. Congrats on a wonderful commission result!
Full color and far more than a bust! This is called winning the commission lottery!
I looked long and hard at this one at OAX last year before finally walking away. Glad to see you had better sense than I did and picked it up! Striking image, with Sue rightly at the fore, just as she's been during Humberto's run on the book!
Lovely result! You're right about the light greens and blues. They make perfect sense in the context of the larger piece and make Elektra come to life.
How did he accomplish that effect? It'd be fun to see a video of his process, but the final result is damn cool!
Back here to say this is one of my favorite commissions on CAF. Just a perfect piece.
What a fun Skottie design for one of Marvel's great Spidey-verse characters! So much personality and menace in the pose. Congrats on this one!
Wonderful cover, Paul! I was underbidder on this one. Glad to see it's in an incredible Spidey collection alongside so many gems!
Glad you finally got your example from this great arc! Very reminiscent of Ringo's later work on Tellos, particularly that top image of the two giant figures fighting one another. Congrats!
How did I miss this one at the show? The choice to have the mountain escape and the rock shelf lends to Galactus' massive scale. Nice pickup!
Your Cash cup runneth over! So many OAX prizes this year. I love Jake doing his trademark overhead squiggly arms and Jake's dad behind the trees behind Bubblegum.
This is one page that grabbed me right when the book came out! If you'd sell or trade, please let me know.
Always been a big fan of Mirka's work, and you and I always seem to like the same artists... so no surprise seeing you pick up a great example from her. You have it spot-on. It's the exact attitude you want from Rogue, and Gambit tending to her poolside is also just right.
JAL's style makes the massive sword's impact hit even harder. What a great choice for him, and perfect execution.
The first page I'll think of when I think back on this series.
Love Bucky's classic Spidey! Like Marcus said, you have to love the delighted kids in the train car.
I keep saying the latest of these Derington commissions is my favorite, but come on- this one HAS to be the best one!
The foot testing the elasticity of the webbing has the creative spark of Ditko or Gil Kane... The hand making the cat's cradle effect in the web... it's better than any city background could have been, and it simplifies the piece in such a beautiful way. Just perfect.
Always cool when the symbiote suit has clawed fingers and some evidence of strain in the mask. The Spider-Man 2 game really leaned into that. Nice to see it here, too!
Agreed, I was baffled it went so high. Prices have been creeping up, but not to this level. Hope it's a one-off and not a trend.
Kane's Spidey is one of my favorites. Still lithe and athletic, but with real substance in the figure. He captures something that Ditko left behind in the character that doesn't always translate. This is a perfect example, and of course Romita's inks are instantly recognizable and a hand-in-glove fit for Kane's style.
Phenomenal addition, Bill. An absolutely iconic cover that could be shown anytime someone asked to explain Kirby's genius. WOW.
Vintage JSC! These just don't change hands very often. Great pickup, my friend!
The negative space of the sword really emphasizes its bulk. Also, the red on her tattoos defines her arm so clearly. Great pinup!
A novel, "coming atcha" Spidey pose that somehow isn't a butt/crotch shot! Fantastic cover with a great Ben Grimm reaction shot in the corner.
Maybe Cheung's two most signature characters. This issue was so special, to get to see him draw them both together, and this is one of the few pages featuring both!
Buh gawd! It's so close to the final cover, I wouldn't even think it was a prelim. How cool!
Just perfect JRJR. Everyone loves his Spidey in the rain, and this is from an ideal era of his ASM tenure. Congrats!
That's perfect Booth! And no better subject for him, in my opinion. Who you gonna have ink it?
You gotta love promo art. This strikes it perfectly, and for many, will be their first memory of the series. How cool.
One of the many ways Jean and Emma were connected over the years... but that first panel is just amazing. Congrats, my friend!
It just makes perfect sense as something someone with Bruce's resources would build... and it looks awesome.
This was such a fun issue, and McGuinness turned out tons of great splashes. Nice example from him.
Makes you want to rush to the LCS and reread Abs Bat #1 all over again!
This was one of the choices I gave Jeehyung when I commissioned him back in 2020. Nice to know what his Black Cat would look like! This is a wonderful commission result. Congrats!
One of the very best Black Cats on CAF. My kingdom for an Art Adams piece like this one!
