Terry, although it is not signed, there are many data that point to the authorship of Reynold Brown, among others the fact that he was in charge of the publicity of that film in 1954, along with other Universal Studios movies such as Creature From the Black Lagoon, Dawn at Socorro, Taza Son of Cochise, Tanganyika, Sign of the Pagan, Johnny Dark, The Far Country, Black Shield of Falworth... In any case, as you said, whether or not it is a Brown, it's a lovely painting and a great movie.
