This is definitely better than the published cover. Darkseid here is attacking while in the published cover, he is defending !
Batman knocks out 3 classic villains at the same time! Even Bruce Lee can't do that! Great artwork!
Its always great to watch spidey caught by Doc Ock's arms!
It is interesting to note what has changed and what has not changed during the last 10 years. What remains the same are that Ethan is still the artist of GL and so are the prices of his original artwork! No inflation for 10 years, you have got a bargain! On the other hand, circulation of Green Lantern has gone down substantially: GL4 Issue 9 (Feb 2006) 86,522 GL6 Issue 8 (Nov 2016) 45,194 We can only conclude that it is the story and not the artist's fault!
A classic cover ! I bought this series because of the covers !
What else can a Spidey fan ask for ? Congrats !
Kane's style did change a lot during these 224 issues. But one thing remains the same - his GL rarely looks at the reader ! Take this cover for instance, Kilowog, John, Katma & Arisia are looking at the page but Hal turns his head away ! For those who don't know, after issue 89 GL's adventures became a backup feature in Flash from issues 217-246. Again, after issue 224, GL's adventures appear in Action Comics Weekly from issues 601-642. Kane's last GL story appeared as a bonus in Series 3 issue 81!
Neither am I. Apparently nobody likes him as the Spectre ! But since this sub-gallery is about his career history so this cover, being his 1st appearance as the Spectre, is a must have ! By the way, the Renegade Hal design looks similar to the Spectre, especially after the haircut !
Excellent ! Keep it that way ! Leave some art for us !
Thanks for not outbidding me for the pieces in this sub-gallery !
Gorgeous pin ups and nice background. Congrats!
Sinestro regaining control of his corps from Mongul was an interesting story! Congratulations for having the "shocking" DPS of Sinestro knocking out the mighty Mongul!
An in-flight pin up, a giant headshot and a miniature all in one page ! What else can you ask for ?
Green Lantern caught by Evil Star's life force beam tentacles! That is my favorite GL cartoon! This piece was sold via Ebay on 2012-5-18 for $159.99.
Oops! You have got the wrong memories! This should be from the episode "Take a Giant Step" where Flash and Kid Flash battle Professor Crane, an expert in building robots!
Actually Joe did more than 50 issues. He started with issue 117 and left with issue 155, then he returned with issue 188 and worked right up to issue 222. He returned with Volume 3 issue 9 up to issue 25. Of course there are occasionally other "fill in" artists for an issue or two. He was also the artist for Tales of the Green Lantern Corps issues 1-3. Accordingly, he should be the longest running GL artist !
Green Lantern White, sector 2814, sub-sub-sub sector Bridgewater, guardian of 800+ pieces of GL published artwork and sketches ! Great !
I was wondering what you were going after when you decided to part with one of your masterpieces to help pay for it. You have definitely made the right decision. But I doubt if this would really be your last purchase !
A rare page with the 3 different incarnations of Hal, worth every penny of it.
Ted has been selling off the cream of his Green Lantern collection recently. Your acquisition is a typical example of the BRICs taking over the world economy ! Within 24 hours Sal put up the advertisment of this piece in the CAF Classified section, it was gone already ! Congratulations for your swift action and acquisition !
Is this a modern day reproduction ? It looks exactly like the one which has been sitting in Ted Lanting's gallery 7 years ago !?
Haven't seen Hal take on his classic foes for quite a long time! Geoff Johns had only reinstated Black Hand, Hector Hammond, the Shark and the Tattooed Man. After some 80 issues Sonar is still in prison! Thanks for sharing and remind us of the good old days!
Me hate dis terrible cover ! Dis AM the most uninteresting piece in your gallery. Me especially hate Yellow Lantern rubs his nose with power beam !
This is one of the few stories that I read again and again ! Thanks for sharing.
A very nice layout concept. But I note that Dave's style has changed a bit since his old GL days.
This is from one of my favorite stories. That appears to be page 11. Thanks for sharing.
Me do not like this cover ! It am terrible ! Me sorry that you am so unlucky to own it !
Brainiac is more menancing on this cover than he was on the Action 242 cover. A modern day classic ! Congratulations !
Great splash ! Welcome back to CAF James !
Abin Sur passing on his ring + 2 GL pin ups ! What else can you ask for from a page ? Congratulations !
I do understand how you regret about that nickel ! During the last few years I keep on receiving offers for the piece. The highest offer so far was 5 times my original cost of acquisition ! But don’t worry, you are still number one on the waiting list.
Now you understand why I did not have the money to buy your Pat Broderick cover.
Your patience bears fruit ! After almost 3 years, the dealer finally cut down his asking price by 40% ! Congratulations !
Fred, I have been monitoring the auction of this page. Have you noticed the small print? It says: “Ivan Reis blue line + JP Mayer inks … Originally purchased from www.comiconart.com.” GL issue 13 was penciled by Ivan Reis and inked by Marc Campos. So this is probably a re-interpretation of the page instead of the published original ?
