I can't think of an artist that consistently brings more imagination than Walter Geovani to drawings of Red Sonja. Thanks for sharing this one with with us through CAF!
This a great one. It is nice to see the rare Thorne Sonja pages in circulation being passed into appreciative hands!
Alan Patrick is one of my favourite artists. Another fantastic composition with endless details from him. Thank you for sharing it with us on CAF!
Agreed. The 1990s is a drought for Catwoman pages with the few in circulation coming from those kept by the inkers, which I suspect is the origin of this one (the inker signed it, not the penciller). Jim Balent's run began in 1993 a few months after this Showcase story came out, so perhaps this is one of the last CW page drawn before Jim took the helm (and locked his pages in a vault that could likely pose a challenge for even Catwoman).
'...good one to Showcase'... Well done. I chuckled, then I sighed... and then smiled again. Thanks for that one!
I appreciate the reply! Your work on Blue really stuck with me—it had a cinematic quality (and costume) that made it stand out. I still think it would be great to see an occasional return of that Blue aesthetic. Perhaps 'Into the Blue' and 'Out of the Blue' ? (I'm sure you would create a better title than I did). Anyway, thanks for the memorable storytelling.
Sonja Blue and the follow-up Sonja Unchained were my favourite R.S. stories and costume designs since the original Frank Thorne series. Thank you for sharing your art with us on CAF!
This is stunning. The John Carter world is full of strange creatures that I would love to see Dan explore more. This is one of the few times I have seen their loyal pet, Woola, look as intimidating as he should!
This is excellent. I am always happy to see new drawings by Todd Smith. I wish there were more!
Congratulations. Frank Thorne is an artist that I always paid attention to. I believe that the majority of the issue 1 pages were kept by Frank and only made available after his death. It is good to see these pages getting into the hands of people that appreciate them!
It can be a challenge to find a great Lara Croft drawing, and this is one of the few. Thank you for sharing with us on CAF
This is excellent. I really enjoyed that series of Hawkgirl comics that he did (I haven't seen it equalled). Best of luck finding some of the original pages!
This one is breathtaking and turned out really well in photo form. I was fortunate to buy two small works from her before she started doing covers for comics and every time I look at them I am amazed by the pastel sorcery. Thanks for sharing it!
This is channeling all that is great with the best 1970's depictions of Sonja! Thank you for sharing it with us.
It is great to see this page. I gave up reading comics for wo decades, and when I saw the artwork from this Bat Woman series in a thrift store bin, I was pulled right back into reading and loving them. These unique pages paired with those dreamy watercolours, they stand out as something very special (which we might not see again). Thanks for sharing this with us on CAF!
This is a perfect drawing with a perfect story behind it. Thank you for sharing it with us through CAF!
Thank you for the thoughts, Marcus. I agree. My favourite artworks are usually the masterclasses in inkwork and flow within & between panels. Seeing the qualities that you so elegantly stated come together like this make the artwork a peak for what I hope to find when collecting art or reading a darn fine comic book.
I am always impressed by Alan Patrick's work (all those ideas and details!) This is a great representation of his skills. Thank you for sharing it!
It is always great to see Darwyn's Superman drawings emerge. There are not enough of them!
This is an excellent composition. Everything works together perfectly. Thank you for sharing this atmospheric gem with us.
Wow! Where did you find this?!? The Unchained/Blue storyline is among my favourites for Red Sonja, and I rarely see the original art anywhere. Sonja sure knew how to sport a blue demon/werewolf pelt. Thank you for sharing!
I agree. It occurs to me now that the top right panel is the only one where the camera isn't slanted. That solid architecture is holding the page together while the camera tilts from left to right like a ship listing to its sides.
Senseational. The grey palette was an inspired choice and makes it stand out from his other paintings of her!
All-Star Western is a title that comic fans and art admirers should talk about more often! Thanks for sharing these!
Both of the Buzio Hawks look great. The artist's style gives new life to these characters. I'd buy that comic!
I think that Alan always gives more to every drawing than should be humanly expected. This is no exception. I have a few pencil drawing by him and I continuously find new details and new ways of seeing the composition. The clear inked version came out really well. The inker must be faced with some challenging decisions throughout the process! Thank you for sharing these with us.
I love it! A great display of colour variations and 100% in line with the original Robert Howard stories! Seriously jealous...
I have never seen an Amanda Connor rendition of Big Barda. It works wonderfully in her style. Thanks for sharing the story about her armour. I had never thought about how time-consuming that must be to draw and colour, and so I see why the second costume was so valuable to artists! Thanks for sharing this with us on CAF!
This is perfect. t do not think it can get better than this. Thanks for sharing this gem with with us on CAF!
It is impressive how much energy is on this page! Her sequence of Sonja covers are my favourite run of Sonja covers that I have seen.

This is perfect. I have no idea how Amanda makes it look so easy. It couldn't be any better!
I love this Sonja. The artist is having fun playing with different sizes, perspectives and balance. Thank you for sharing it with us on CAF.
This is a great one! I am a big fan of Alan Patrick and have been lucky to pick up a few of his pages. They have some many ideas and details squeezed into them, that you can keep admiring them over and over.
Wonderful! This is a great example of how much the inker/inking matters. Thanks for sharing it with us on CAF.
This is a perfect rendition of Evil-Lyn. Seeing this pop up on CAF brought me to your MOTU gallery and I spent some time enjoying and appreciating it. Thanks ffor sharing your treasures with us!
That is great that you were able to keep the pages in sequence. Well done and thank you for sharing them with us!
Beautiful and bold! I have been hoping to find a Tim Sale Catwoman for years and so I am very jealous of yours! Thanks for sharing it with us on CAF.
Alan Patrick never disappoints. Nice inking too!
One thing that I like about CAF is finding treasures like this years after it was uploaded. There are a million drawings of Sonja out in the world, and so seeing an artist create a unique take on the character is always exciting. Well done with that commission request!!
You are right. Looking at it again, I further appreciate that the three central three beats of worry are framed by joyful motion/activity (leading up to level footing and then back down again).
I agree with you. I particularly enjoy how the broad chest of Conan pops out in the last panel because there is no shading. It puts a spotlight on him during the joke.
I agree and and I wasted no time in displaying it in my home.
Great concept + the perfect artist. I love it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Fabulous in every way. It has that special (indefinable) something!
This is a great example of Walter's Red Sonja (always very little patience for posing). Thanks for sharing it with us!
A solid punch! This was an exciting and more-complex era of Batgirl comics. I miss it! Thanks for sharing this page with us on CAF.
I love a good Red Sonja taven scene, and this one has it all. Thanks for sharing it with us!
