“You wanna play hero, right?

Affirmative.

Your funeral, sucka!

   BOP!!!”

Absolutely love this!!  One can immediately tell Alan had fun with this.

It’s also a bittersweet reminder of comics in the middle of a vast creative era.

Beautiful but tense piece of art. Almost akin to the turning point when the Hulk would become the Maestro.  Congratulations on this stunning piece.

This is a beautifully rendered piece.  I can certainly hear John Williams' score just by the artwork alone.  The shading and details, especially on the droids, are quite remarkable.  Another impressive addition AK.

No matter how many incarnations of the Spidey suit are made, nothing beats the original.  McKone works his magic with Spidey in his element.

I loved the poster as a kid.  This recreation is beautiful beyond words and should be be framed in a wall for all to admire.  Congratulations!

This is a beauty!  I always preferred this cover more than FF#1 as it was the true representation of the team.  Congrats!

Ian has done a great job. It's a stunning piece! I prefer his inks on his pencils too (got 2 commission in the last two years). Saw this commission at his Facebook feed some month ago and Ian wrote: "First time I've ever drawn them and I'd happily never draw Galactus again!  Great character - but that outfit...!"

Yeah, I read Ian's post as well and actually I felt complimentary towards him.  Galactus is a difficult character to draw.  However there's now proof he excels at it.  I will have to think of another challenge for him.

Beautiful piece by this modern legend! T Shen is correct though, Dustin. It should never be a challenge to frame black and white artwork. Color is more challenging, but pen and ink work should be easily done with a contemporary and simple black frame and an off-white/cream colored (as close to the paper color as possible) mat. Too man art collectors go out tof their way to give the art garish presentations. The presentation should always be understated, so it pushes the artwork forward. Whenever you have a piece that most people, when first seeing it, say "Wow, I love the frame/mat!", it means you overdid the presentation. Keep it subtle so the art is the first thing that grabs the eye's attention.

Thanks for the advice.  And I definitely agree with you the art should be in the forefront,  In this case the tonal paper used is throwing off my perspective as opposed to black and white artwork.  I'll do some research in the galleries in this group to get some ideas.

Dustin, you just went to the convention, met Leonardi and Green at their booth and Leonardi just happened to have this finished piece available for sale? Either way, it is absolutely magnificent. Truly outstanding, congratulations!

When I had arrived at the con, Leonardi was already done with the pencils.  Green was halfway into the inks but I bought it and just waited till it was completed.  I know artists bring pre-drawn art to shows but I never expected it would be something like this.

Very cool that Kang uses the Avengers #8 force field!

Good observation as always.  In discussing the commission with Raney, I suggested to use that classic cover as reference but from the Avengers perspective.  Raney is one of the friendliest and talented artists out there,

My jaw hit the proverbial floor when I saw this.  This is an exquisite masterpiece drawn by a master artist.  It was criminal his time on the X-Men was short.  Yet it's a reminder how damn good his short stint was as compared to what passes for dramatic storytelling these days.  Congratulations on this beautiful piece.
