Terrific detail and shading. SM just pops out at you!
A stunning cover. Wow!
Johnny's been drawn so many different ways over the years. This one really stood out to me.
This is a piece of history as much as a beautiful page. As per another commenter, imagine being there . . .
The level of detail is stunning, as is the inking. Batman looks like a piece of Japanese art. Really different!
Thanks!
(Though I don't believe that's what Spider-Man is thinking.)
Thanks, Marcus. The fact that there's an inking competition made me realize the choices inkers make, and how subtle ther choices can be. A number of the Inkwell Competition pieces on this drawing were available for purchase, and it was interesting comparing them all before I decided on this one. And I also think no one draws Superman as well as Ivan Reis.
Really good point! The inking is really thought out and beautifully done. Thanks for the comment, Marcus.
Thanks, NBMHNamor. My only initial concern with the piece was that its a bit static. But then I thought -- like you -- this is beautiful. That decided it. Thanks for your note!
Batman as a goldfish prize. That's the best explanation I've gotten yet as to what's going on here, Marcus. And you're right about the precise linework. Thanks for your note!
Look at you, you had me going back to look at the Joker's tongue! That's a wonderful thought that the images are reminiscent of Jerry Robinson in the Golden Age. Thanks a lot for your note, ilia.
Thanks. Craftmanship is an excellent word choice here. I agree. Thanks for the note.
You've got to like a happy Joker! Thanks for leaving the comment, JF.
