It's a nice early splash. Doug used quite a heavy brush then. I have a few of the Gear pages and really enjoy his quirky style.
I loved the Herriman like pages in Doug's EWJ comic. Can't get enough of that universe.
Reminds me of George Herriman's Krazy Kat art scapes, There's definitely a certain nostalgic charm to the simplicity of this page.
