hey paul,
looking at your CAF page, it looks like you wouldn't be into any illustration from the really the old guys. you got good taste! thanks for the note.
best, shawn
funny, i'd never heard of charles david mitchell until i saw this piece for sale. good stuff. i was checking out your page and i noticed the piece by David Hendricksen that you recently picked up. what a great drawing! i saw it online and i forgot to bid on it. i saw what it went for. you got a great deal$. kudos. by the way, probably the best of the "should be much better known illustrators" is the great frank godwin. i can't think of many people who can just flat out draw as well as him. truly a master.
hey mark, thanks. i do like that page. i especially like the tom sutton self portrait holding his portfolio. some people have asked me "who is that lady holding the portfolio?" ...but it's tom. by the way, you've got some sweet pages yourself.
good art day indeed! both pieces are awesome! great taste on your part. best, shawn
with the prices of originals i'm lucky to have it. my favorite bit on the page is the guys profile in the middle panel. jack davis is the balls!
i use google all the time but i had no idea that there was such a thing on google search. amazing. thanks for the tip. good karma coming your way, i'm sure.
hey jonathan, holy crap, batman! wow. thanks for the detective work. i really had no clue as to what it was used for. i'll make the change to the description, and of course a big thank you to you when i do it. thanks again for the info. best, shawn
thanks to you as well. you've got some great stuff. love the foster tarzan. the booth is done on thick illustration board and is 9" x 14" (sight size) with about an inch border.
absolutely. it's on my staircase wall so i get to check it out every time i pass it. i'm lucky to have it.
thanks. i was lucky to get it. i can't afford any of the cool old stuff i like.
Hey Doctor Fantastic, I couldn't agree more. he's my all time very favorite cartoonist ever! There's no one like the great Jack Davis.
no worries. i see what you mean. if you just look at the page without reading anything, it does look like a spinstery old lady who's narrating. still funny. thanks for the note. shawn
oh my god, that's funny! the old lady with the umbrella is actually tom sutton, the artist who plotted and drew the story. if you look close you'll see some comic pages falling out of the portfolio he's carrying. the reason i got the page is because when i was in art school many years ago i met tom a few times and he couldn't have been nicer or more generous (he was the second pro that i ever met, the first being bhob stewart, so for me it was a really big deal). so this is a good way for me to remember him. besides all that, it's a cool page.
i see that you have the best page from the current run; get the lobster #2 page 5. great taste my friend!
thanks. i love this piece. one of the earliest pieces i ever bought.
holy crap! talk about amazing taste, you've got some of the coolest stuff on comicartfans! some of my favorites are:Madman Comics Letters Page Art, Madman (Tundra) 3 inside covers, and of course ronnie del carmen's sketches among other great shit on your page! kudos! shawn
thanks. always been a huge fan of bachalo, especially his women.
