Yes, I liked that edition more as well because more of the image is visable and it wraps around better.
I agree, it was a long road to get it but it was well worth it
Hard to argue that there is a better Ken Kelly piece - cheers!
Thank you! Yes, there is another that needs to join though 😉
Thank you. I have a few other natural history pieces, 50kg mammoth tusk being the other very cool one.
Yes his work is outstanding and his painted covers with females particularly are stunning!
The early SSOC with these two were exceptional and the title pages are really special.
The scene and the Conan figure is best in #10 but the skeletons and Mage in this are so cool! Also painted incredibly well
I still agree with you though haha
Great dealing with you too, this is a nice piece and it is in the right place now!
Thanks Jared. I have a lot of Kelly pieces and this truly stands out.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Ken's art is always the most appreciated at mine when people come over. This one gets particular credit.
Thanks! I have had these for a while but I am trying to put more things up, slowly getting around to it haha. I have a few original face sketches prior to the covers.
Hi Marc - absolutely agree! I don't know or can't remember the exact date these were done. Do you know?
As a fan of the artwork itself I must say that I am even more pleased to display this than the original Warren cover as the quality and size is very impressive. I would also like the cover one day too.
There is much of Renato's work to admire and with this piece particularly I understand your envy. It has been exhibited in Berlin for a long time until recently and now that it is with me it will also be exhibited from time to time.
Ha - I was saving the best for last!
Haha! I thought it was common practise to peruse CAF through the aid of one's monocle.
Hopefully pop up somewhere, if you ask some art dealers they may already know who has it from their less sharing clients.
Thank you! Brom is really outstanding, one of if not my absolute favourite artist and yet it's very difficult to purchase anything. Really please to get a piece of this quality.
In a way I'd have preferred it to have remained as it was published but I prefer the colours and details that it has now.
Definitely see the similarities but without being so blatant as Corben's work can be.
Been a lot of talk about bringing class to CAF recently - this piece does that in spades!
In the 70s Boris was really incredible. I don't remember anything from that period that wasn't fantastic and yet he was also very prolific.
Hey Glynn - yeh it is brilliant. I don't know where though, only that it says it was published as Bran Mak Morn with the stuff provided. I need to have a look through some of the HM magazines and the likes at that mid 80s period.
Let me know if you find it please!
I believe I will be adding more Rackham pieces to my collection soon 😉 Do you know if or where this piece was used?
I believe Clint asked specifically for it to be Frazetta and did give a fair bit of direction and also modeled for it.
Yeh very cool, also great that Frazetta invited Clint to come to his house and choose his favourite prelim. You can see that it was not the norm from how large and nice these prelims are when you compare them with his usual tiny pieces for all his usual covers etc.
Thanks for the reminder Marcus - uploaded a few at the same time and mixed it up.
