Thanks! To me, it felt like a silver age story with modern artistic approach
Thanks totally agree - this is a cool version of that character
Yes thanks! I love that idea of the octopus representing global domination, seems like exactly what Dave must have been going for!
Completely agree! Loved Byrne's take on the Lois and Clark relationship in the "modern" era of the 80s, definitely had a big impact on everything that came after. This issue also had a little bit of that Superman III scene where he is playing both parts in the same place at the same time...
Thanks! Absolutely - I let Gabriel pick which era of Stan he wanted to use, I'm glad he went with the younger/period correct look as you mentioned.
Completely agree re: the composition and how much she can show in such a small space. Thanks for the opportunity to add this one to the collection.
Thanks! Yes a classic adaptation from Jerry - this remark is on the inside of a hardcover reprint of that issue.
Thanks! Totally agree this looks cooler than the version they filmed!
Thanks, totally agree - it would have been amazing to see an entirely painted Jusko Superman card set.
Thanks! He can convey an amazing amount in a small space and with a few lines... this was part of the same commission list but mail-away.
Really cool! Love the heavy ink lines.
I think we coincidentally requested similar pieces - mine is almost a "sequal" to this image, will post it now!
Totally agree, his design even stands out amongst the other 2099 characters. I thought this page really captured it from a few angles.
Thanks! Yes I also had not seen him draw AzBats before and he did a really amazing job. I think these two would have made a great pair for a World's Finest series in the early '90s!
Thanks! Agreed definitely seems influence by Boring and Butch mentioned that he spent years adjusting the proportions of his Superman figure to the version we became used to during his run on Action Comics.
Yes I wasn't sure if it was meant to be black/silver (hence his book), or the traditional green with some fading in the color over time...
So great! I'm glad you have this classic piece
Amazing cover and fantastic issue of this run!
Great page and sequence! I have page 8 from the same issue, really loved this story
Great pageI Remember reading this page when it first came out!
Thanks! I thought he captured the action really well on panels 2-4
I noticed that also - I think it looks llike a rough Batman sketch upside down underneath...
Thanks! I was lucky to purchase this at one of the NYCC charity auction events
Thanks! We were lucky to get on the commission list back when there used to be cons..
Thanks Dave! I agree and always thought it was great how his design was based off Christopher Reeve..
