Pum spak! Poor saps got 319'd.
If I remember correctly, Water Wizard didn't make it to the club in time.
Yes! Macross is what I would have imagined a Top Gun inspired mecha anime to look and feel like, but obviously they created it all on their own. Romance of flying indeed.
When I acquired this cel, it actually came with a different background print, which had Rick walking down a dark corridor. As I went to hunt down the scene, I discovered it was supposed to be an outdoor shot with Lisa, which made me appreciate it all the more.
Also any background that better showcases Rick's hairdo is a keeper.
"And my mitts"
brilliant memorable page, congrats! 🍾
Very cool full body cel with background! I am making my way through the Gatchaman show. Appreciate the more mature tone of the original Japanese series. Congrats on a great cel.
Amazing! You have a personal connection to this piece. Very kind of them to give it to you as a gift.
"It's all in the reflexes"
Congrats! Great piece, love the composition. Are these painted at the actual one-sheet poster size?
Heh, just read the text. The two middle panels kinda spell out the whole story.
Another great page with a nice closeup of the Crow with his scar and that white iris. Eric standing at the rainy window is an indelible part of that book.
wow! I have only read the trades, so I totally missed this amazing cover. evokes Buck Rogers. Great staging of the characters. Love the simple white mat & frame too (makes the colors pop). Congrats!
Brilliant! Always considered this one of my top 5 covers (along with the cast Poster art) and definitely a keeper. Have been following your auctions for the past year, watching the lots come in, seeing if any of my favorites would appear. Thanks for taking care of these and for letting many of them find new homes. Cheers.
Thanks for the comment Phil! You have good taste. I picked this one up precisely for that last panel.
nice collection of Walking Dead comic pages! I had only watched the show, but the Governor always felt like their best villain to me. Nice page.
First Beast as an Avenger! Growing up in the 80s I only knew Beast as an Avenger. I think he even clocked more time as an Avenger than as an X-man by the end of this run. Turning Hank McCoy into a literal Beast was a smart move by Conway/Englehart. Congrats!
Brilliant. Love the sense of depth in this one along with the limited color palette. Sea Thingy indeed. A+
Thanks! Bring on the Badguys. David/Keown were my favorite Marvel creative team in the 90s. Always looked forward to Keown's splash each issue.
You're absolutely spot on with your description of this page. It defined the character of Wolverine. I distinctly remember reading this issue when it came out. I was a military brat living in Germany in the 80s and my brother bought the comic at the Star & Stripes bookstore in Frankfurt. It's still as impactful now as it was then. Congrats!
This is a great tribute piece. The names carved in the tree. The sun and the desert. Even the cross inside the A of the title. Congrats!
Wow, this is worth a visit! Priceless.
Great series. The art was consistently top notch.
Haha thanks Felix. I thought I'd join the club. I'll take a Fabry bull skull if I can't get a sinewy Fabry hand. I was the under bidder (or close to) on a couple of the other Jesse/Tulip covers. These last few auctions are gonna be nuts (Preacher 3 cover... maybe $40K+?). And you're right, this is a major opportunity for the fans. These covers may not resurface for another 20+ years! Appreciate Simon letting some of these find new homes.
This is brilliant. Looks like Jesse's about to send out the Word (and maybe a good wallop) and whoever gets it is probably going to bear insult along with injury. That hellfire texture! Those sinewy hands. Definitely peak powers. Congrats!
Thanks Marcus! I can totally see it now. Angelville, A tale of love and revenge in the Deep South... the new novel from Danielle Steel. This needs a mock-up. 😄
Classic storyline! Back in my college days I actually made a key to hell out of sculpey. baked it, painted it. The damn thing was heavy (literally and figuratively). Congrats on a great page and awesome that you were inspired to make props (and full on displays) too! 😆
Hellboy hitting monsters in the face is gold. This series in particular was a breath of fresh air after Seed of Destruction. Give me the one shot stories.
Great comic. I talked to Peter David at a show in Seattle a few years ago and he fondly talked about Future Imperfect. I thought it was very clever how Hulk beats Maestro. Congrats!
Nuff Said! That's a helluva double page splash. Thanks for the nice scan too. Congrats!
Thanks! Loved this oddball series, especially the Dart character design. So unique. A lucky eBay find from last year (courtesy of the ComicArt Tracker website). These pages must have been in a collection since the 80s/90s, 'cause I had never seen them before in all my years of collecting. Ross did this one justice.
Thanks! This was an Ebay grab from back in the early days. Heard you mention AF#1 Cover on your podcast (great podcast BTW). I might have to arrange visitation rights if you ever acquired it. Met Gerry Conway and JLGL and they both had fond memories of this goofy title (which was heartwarming to hear). Thanks for dropping by! -RG
Brilliant! Preacher took over as essential reading for me as Sandman was winding down. Not too many of these have surfaced on CAF since going to Heritage. I vaguely remember seeing the covers for sale ($1000 a pop) at Wildstorm Fine Arts back in the mid 90s, while the comic was still being produced (issues were still in the early teens). Asked Fabry about them back in 2005 at SDCC. He mentioned "the collector" who had them all. Congrats!
peachy keen! one of the top Sandman issues. 'grats.
Brilliant! Poor ole DD is getting worked over. Nobody draws fights like Frank.
Stunning! Signature Miller fight sequence with the panel breaking and the sai poking through the back (and front). Congrats! 🥷 ⚔️
