This looks disappointly similar to a commission from Terry Shoemaker that I posted in January 2025. Dagger's leg are different, and the background is different, and mine is colored, but look how similar.
Thanks D! I would have gone to OAX just to line up this commission. It's so nice when the stars align.
I bought Elementals #2 off the "newstand" around 1984, and I hunted down a #1. This is great!
Sooooo cool! Thanks for sharing.
Great piece. I saw the TM sig and thought it was FM, and said WHAT???? Still a fantastic piece!
I went back to see if the other book was still at his table on Sunday, but someone beat me to it. This is a really nice acquisition!
Also, thanks for the info on the Aquarus wiki page. My inked piece is the one that is posted on the wiki page. He must have used a light box to create the inked one from the pencils?
That's interesting. I have the same character with the same pose dated one day later in ink. Search Aquarus and see it on my CAF gallery.
Thanks Lee! The colors did scan poorly on this. I was going to try to figure out how to adjust better.
Yeah, I hounded him for a good long while, but he came through. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks Marcus. I thought of the concept at a Crain signingat a comic shop back in 2022. Waited the entire day for him to get to it, and he never got to it. Saw him again in 2023 almost one year later at Denver Fan Expo, and there was no line. Got right in.
Thanks Marcus. It was an impulse purchase at this table. I have another piece to be posted soon.
I've got a few later pieces by Jason Metcalf. This style is very different from the pieces that I have. Did he change his style, did you specify this style, or something else?
Thanks for watching CJ. Deathlok was a great concept and character. The writing was not super when I re-read recently, but the potential for that character is fantastic.
That's a scan. No lens flare. It's supposed to be the sunlight reflecting in from outside of the alley. It was sort of a miscommunication. I told him that Dagger should have a glow about her inside of Cloak's darkness. This is what he did :)
Thanks Steven. Last day of the sketch book, but I put it in my regular gallery too. I'm thrilled with it.
I got it 4 years ago at Denver FanExpo. They were sitting together. I had to beg for the pistol. :)
I think Don Ho followed Ron's pencils very closely. They were sitting next to eachother, so maybe Ron provided some input. :)
Such a cool page. I remember back in the early 80s, I had a comic book store, and I would point my customers to this issue as an important first appearance.
