Great piece!  I was an underbidder on HA for this, but glad to see it went to a special collection and someone that appreciates some Gianni and REH work.  As a consolation, the following week I was able to get a Krenkel from Sowers of the Thunder :-)

Thanks, I was fortunate to pick this one up at auction and stands at almost 5 feet tall! Marked as painted in 1977, same year as his Kiss Love Gun album cover, but obviously not as well known 😄

I believe it was done around the mid 90s when the card sets for FPG were released. I also find it interesting the prelim originally had a sword by his side, which makes me think it's similar to other warrior works by Jonesat the time. The Kaluta theory is an interesting one!

Ken Kelly is one of the most underrated masters IMO. Who will get his due. His 1970s work is unparalleled. And some of his 1980s work and 1990s work is exquisite too.

Thanks for the comment and I completely agree that it so well represents the 80s with the outfits and expressions. Plus a bit of that fantasy flair that Boris is known for!
