This piece absolutely captures the essence of thos first Jonny Quest tv shows.  They ran at 6:30 PM in Chicago on Mondays, if my memory serves me correctly.  Never missed an episode.

After Kirby left, Big John became the Marvel house style.  His consistency was his greatest asset.  From 1966 to 1996 when he retired, you picked up a Buscema book because he was the artist.  If a comic book artist's #1 job is to make sales, Big John never disapointed.  As Stan would say :  Nuff Said !

One of Romita Sr's greatest illustrations of his legendary career.  Talk about the "Big O" page design, this one is the ultimate example.  Start at Spidey's webbed up clothes and let your eye read all the word balloons around the page, with the Spider Man figure dead center.  Stan invented the usage of word balloons as a story dynamic, not just to convey the script.  Just a classic Marvel 1960s page that is still great 60 years later !

Anytime you can get a Fastner and Larson painting, you don't ask questions.  You buy !   What a great and fun piece.  Congratulations on owning this gem !!

Mark Raats is a master of gouache and colored pencil.  This is an arduously slow process compared to what passes as realism currently, but his results speak for themselves.  A well known master illustrator throughout his long career, this piece just speaks to his quality of effort.  What a superb addition to your collection !  Congratulations !

I really like the way Romita added movement to these romance comics.  I love the pose of the petulant girl luring in the bravado filled young hunk.  Romita used pose, gesture, hair....anything as a dynamic to get movement and promote the idea that there was something happening on the 2D comic book page.  I think this is much harder to do in the romance genre than the super hero genre.  Big time congratulations on owning this classic !!

I think this comment is spot on.  Royer really made Giffen look great.  Marvel was lucky to have both of these terrific talents during this period.

This is the kind of artwork Carmine expected when Jack moved to DC.  But there is only one Joe Sinnott.  If Carmine had enough money to pay Wood to ink New Gods, I think the whole 4th World series would have made it.  Vince was ok but not anywhere near Joe.  What a great page to own !!  Congrats !!
