Great artwork. With the spacesip the eye is led to the background and visits the space station. Incredible movement and depth in this painting.
It is an intricate blend of 1960s dreams materialised in numeours advertisements and gentlemen magazines. The young women are half-naked, a comtemporary women type, a dancing happy play-toy. The old man emenated style and money. It is the type of reading old-fashioned Playboy magazines in these days. The wringled face and the walking stick are indicators for his age. That he is stylish and has money to spent for leisure is shown by his summerly panama. His dreams about a womenizing youth are symbolized in his hip stylishly colored tie. It is subtle hint, of the content, since usually one would not associate such a tie with an old men, more something brownish with stripes. In 1965, the model might have his raviing youth in the 1910s. The tie ultra-modern tie with its bright color is meant as a contradiction to the old face. While these are quite conventional motifs, the star ship in the background seems out of place. Naturally! It's SiFi and the space age. With the rifles space travel has something military and spy-novelish at that time. It is a wonderful dcument of the fanatsies of the 1960s
Cleary the iconic Sputnik and the German assault rocket V2 stood model for this inticing piece of illustration art.
1957, at the bring of the space age, but still indepted to WWII and spy novels which dominated the popular media at that time. I like the clear scenic compositon. Every scene is clearly divided from the other and beautifully composed. It is colorful with the three orange spots which seem to emenate light, one from the depth of the probe, the other from the nuclear reaction and the third, and for the third one we do not see yet the source. That makes us to be drawn into the novel to explore the depth and the source of the light.
