Sorry about that late reply. That's why I had Starfire be included in this piece and ofcourse his history with Batman is symbolized with the batarang he's holding. It's cool having seen him come into his own over the decades from his Teen Titans days all the way up to his leadership role in the awesome Young Justice cartoon series
Rom 65 featured close to half of the heroes in the Marvel Universe. But for a sketch card that's still pretty good.
Rom's neutralizer should be much bigger. The scale is all wrong it almost looks like his head is closer to the viewer. A surprising figure composition oversight for a pro.
Israel is a small country, but they're sending a strong message to iran right now.
How did I not see this before!? I love any sort of well done fan art having to do with the Ostrander Suicide Squad but I took a hard pass on the films and reboot long ago.
well you should see the original cover art. it's easy enough with a Google word search for ROM spacerknight annual 3
For sure! Most sketch cards typically feature just one or two characters.
Don't even get me started on IDW's Rom and Micronauts reboots they were atrocious. As I understand it, the reason why we never got a crossover during the Marvel days was because Marvel wasn't allowed to do that with two different licensed properties. Now how Marvel managed to do it with Transformers and G.I.Joe at the tail end of the 80s with that mini series I have no idea. I suppose everything is negotiable in the world of business when all parties involved have enough of a mutually beneficial incentive.
I agree ofcourse. And this ficticious cover concept speaks to what else could have been under different circumstances,
yeah i love that piece after i found it on CAF back in 2013 i posted it here . . .

also, you're right about Ron Frenze back in the 80s and 90s i didn't even know the name despite his art work being top shelf Marvel 80s awesome on par with Buscema. Darryl Banks I also never heard of until i discovered his Sabra piece on CAF a few years ago. i need to make a point of exploring more of his stuff.
The Marvel Two-In-One issue with Ben Grimm and Sabra that should have been...

That Union Jack mini series was great i think my favorite part of it was the interactions between Sabra and the Arabian Knight. The Marvel Two-In-One issue with Ben Grimm and Sabra that should have been...

Excellent critique I couldn't agree more! It was a real joy to include this one into my gallery and it's always good for there to be some more Sabra on CAF.
Speaking of Sabra on CAF, this one was done during Hanukkha last year https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=2079651
Sorry about the late reply I don't know why i didn't see your comment sooner. I feel the same way about The Torpedo so allow me to offer you a bit of Torpoedo nostalgia here. be sure to also go to the next page there's lot's more....

i saw this when it was posted on ebay around a couple weeks ago. it ended up selling for $70. i'm glad that a lot more Sabra fan art has appeared here and else where on social media in the past year.
Agreed, I was really happy to include this one into my gallery given that the first night of Hanukkah was just around the corner. Not to mention how much I love all the featured characters in the scene. Thanks for the comment, feel free to share this with anyone out there who you might think will appreciate it as well.
BRAVO! I love the patriotic feel of this SABRA piece and it means so much more in this post October 7th era. I alos really like the composition of the scene as well with the flag and her pose. An all around great job thank you for sharing and Happy Hannukkah.
Nicely done! There's been a few new ROM blasting dire wriaths fan art pieces done this year but this one is a real stand out.
Even though i've long since had the individual issues I stilI bought this trade just for the cover art alone. it was so nice to see some new art work for classic ROM spaceknight in the new comic book section of comic shops for a change even if it was just a cover.
Here's something new for Sabra to CAF

Yeah thanks, I'm quite happy with how it turned out on all the points you hit on. I have a thing for small format art work.
Thank you! These are some fraught times for Israel and the Jewish people in general. Fan art that also symbolized strength, resilience and hope was just what I needed.
thanks, getting more Sabra fan art into CAF is always a work in progress i may post something else for her this week. in the meantime if you want to see more Sabra fan art here's a couple more pieces you might like although some of it is probably a bit too political for CAF . . . .

If that is Golden, it's not one of his better works.
Yeah the Greek artist who did this is gifted when it comes to the use of color.
oh that's right, you said your introduction to sabra was from Contest of Champions.
Yeah no kidding about Brigman's artistic skills. All around great page but that first panel with Sabra is a real eye opener!
I was a bit confused when I first saw this page because I know it was not in the issue. So if I'm understanding this correctly sabra was originally supposed to make a brief appearance in the issue but was cut at some point before going to press? Bill Mantlo was the writer it's too bad he's not in a postion to share his thoughts about what that was all about. Anyways, thank you for posting this I love discovering new Sabra related stuff. That's been especially the case with all this Captain America Brave New World drama for ther past couple years to say nothing about October 7th and it's aftermath of global Jew hate on steroids.
This is kinda cool from a conceptual stand point especially with how it pays homage to the original series. I would have liked to see a more finished version of this but even as a rough sketch you get points for creativity. Some other cool recent ROM related fan art here...

You've got a good eye friend. Each character is from a seperate drawing by the same artist digitally blended together in photoshop into one scene.
I'm really glad you seem to be enjoying all this art work i've been posting in the past few days. It's all art work for some time now I've felt was deserving of more exposure.
I hope you Googled the cover art of Uncanny X-Men 222.
Pretty sure a pair of readers or some other such visual magnification aid was used to get this one done.
Yeah I can see that about the newspaper strip feel. But for some context here it's the top half of a full page in which the bottom is made up of one single panel of a downtown scene in Clairton where ROM appears next after his encounter with Brandy Clark.
Ofcourse, he is The Greatest of The Spaceknights after all.
colored in photoshop i do beleive. clearly someone really wanted to see this unredacted version in color so they took it upon themselves to do just that.glad you like it and thanks for the comment. are you a fan of any of the featured licensed properties here?
Finally, some Ostrander era fan art for a change. I have the entire run plus many of the tie ins. Hated the DC New 52 reboot and same goes for those awful movies. Thanks for posting this!
