Really appreciate that, Paul. That’s exactly what drew me to it...the directness and confidence in the lines. It feels honest and unpolished in the best way, especially knowing it’s from the final year of his career. Glad it resonated.
Classic Beckminimalist on the surface, but the storytelling control and pacing are master level. This is why his Fawcett work endures. Love it!
This is the kind of Robbins page I love, great motion and that Namor fall just hits. Super clean storytelling.
Aragones is one of those artists whose work looks simple at first, but the more you look, the more you realize how hard it is to do this well. The clarity and timing are just perfect.
I love DeZuniga's detailed artwork. Had to have it the moment I saw it.
Yup. When I saw it I had to have it. I don't typically buy random pinups (except when I first started collecting OA) or unless they're amazing deals, but I love anything Shazam related and this one was very nicely done.
I love this piece. You beat me to it. I purchased 'The Master' from Albert Moy. I remember Louise Cooper's books fondly.
I thought it was special the moment I saw it. I mean, it's Star Wars from the late 70s. I couldn't pass it up.
You're absolutely right. The artwork in that series had me hooked.
I thought so as well. Allred's pieces are amazing but this one is definitely timeless.
You're absolutely correct to point out that Terrific and Mid-Nite are the intellectuals there and that they're the ones studying the crime scene. I didn't notice this until you pointed it out. Thanks!
I thought the same thing. At the time, Mike Burkey (Romitaman) had both the published cover and this unpublished cover listed for sale. I chose the unpublished cover for obvious reasons.
I thought so too. It was the first OA piece I ever purchased.
Thanks! The frame shop that had it done for me is amazing. Inexpensive and they do top level work.
