This takes me back. Around this time, I worked at a Baseball magazine. One day I ended up on the phone with Frank Thomas' grandfather and we had a long conversation. He'd call every once in a while and we'd talk. He always tried to convince me to quit my job and take a job "for him" traveling with Frank who had only been in the major leagues a year or two. Gotta say, I was tempted to do it -- but I never talked to Frank, so it wasn't really a real job offer. But I like to think it was. :)
