Perkins work really is something special.  I had not bough a comic book in a few years (TPB are easier these days), and had to hae the entire seeries because of the story and the art. Congrats.

Well I wanted a Kubert that fell squarely in the DC Mystery titles.  I actually have not seen that many non-War (including Weird War) Kubert covers on the market in the past few years (or I missed them).  The sci-fi cover I got because it was a fun cover, regarless of the artist!

You are 100% correct that the techniques look nothing alike.  This is probably just something that I think of.  I have a Cerebus page that has the smae tones of strong black and white with a sepia mixed in ... along with an unusual panel layout.  I looked at this and it was the first thing that popped into my mind.

It would not surprise me if Colan didnt take TZ as an inspiration for this.  The short lived Marvel Mag was definitely set up as a TZ, Outer Limits, Amazing Stories, pulp type format.
