Dan Davis inked this one. Those sharpie lines are a trademark of his. Great page.
I haven't been into cards since I was a kid but these plates strike me as really cool. I have handled comic printing plates but nothing of this size - I have always been curious as to how they feel in hand.
I did receive a refund from the seller, but unfortunately the piece is still missing.
I was ~9 when this released, and these two were my favorites at the time. I loved this book, and loved seeing them reunite in DC vs Marvel.
Hope so. It made it one step away from me (to the sorting facility 15 minutes away) and was immediately loaded on the wrong truck and sent back in the direction it came from.
The folks at the local facility were much more helpful than the standard support line, but it ended up as a "you will know when we find it" sort of situation.
I had the same happen back in March. This seems to be happening with FedEx a lot lately.
That's a great page. Honestly, I don't think there is a bad page in the story. Those sequences throughout Hal's childhood are especially great though.
"I don't know what a Manix is, but that's cool." - Albert Moy
The Claritin Batman "seasonal allergy" special from 1999. I remember this one! I may actually still have a copy of the issue somewhere.
We had complementary strategies. I went after both as late as the day of the auction, but ultimately chose this page. That pinup is fantastic!
That is a great page, but I am equally interested in the WB preservation sheet. I have never seen one of these before, and I assume they were included with pieces framed at the WB stores. I never knew what kind of materials they used, but I did remove a WB store-framed piece from a frame a few years ago and thought the materials looked good.
I'm glad to know the pieces they framed should be relatively safe.
I picked up the One Million page for Steel, and picked this one up for the exact reason you gave. I love the powerful bottom panel in both.
It really is one of the more overlooked books of the time, given everything that was happening (and was about to happen) in the GL books. I think the book itself is out of print, and is unavailable digitally. It's a shame, because the story serves as a sort of prequel to GL Rebirth.
Now THAT is an entrance! Keep me in mind if you decide to sell this one.
You are correct! The rivets spell out "Doom" in braille. One of my favorite of Paolo's subtle design decisions in these Daredevil covers.
Looks like this could have been ripped straight out of the legendary adaptation book. Great piece.
Very cool. If I recall correctly, this is the piece that led to Paolo's move from regular paint work to inks (at the request of an editor, after he saw this piece).
I know what you mean! I had been watching these pages for six or seven years. Every time I checked in, I was afraid this one in particular would be gone. Eventually, I figured six or seven years was long enough to wait - now I'm not sure why I waited that long at all.
