Beautiful piece by Rafael Kayanan! It looks much more faithful to Edgar Rice Burroughs work and it's a shame that this adaptation never came into fruition. I keep holding out hope that one day an animated series for a mature audience will be made. Would love to see Genndy Tartakovsky take a shot at making a Princess of Mars series! ![]() I know what you mean, the book deserves more. |

Beutiful!! Great use of lighting and color tones by Daniel Horne!! Also terrific likeness of both Borish Karloff as Ardath Bey and Zita Johann as Princess Ank-Su-Namun!! ![]() Daniel does great work, but not as well known as some. The image does the painting no justice, I wish someone in my area did some larger format scanning. Thanks! |

fun loose stuff! great image! ![]() Wish I could have bought the original painting Earl Norem did for this with my license at Topps. Long story, but they told me it would be in their archives and I couldn't purchase, then they sold it. Would love to see it today! |

INCREDIBLE piece!!! I wonder if the title of the paperback was really "The Texan"? I ask this because I bought a Bama painting that was framed, and like yours, had a very nice plaque that read "James Bama The Gambler's Wife". I looked all over and couldn't find a book of that title. I later discovered the book the painting was created for was actually called, "The Manor". I wonder if the same thing might have happened in this case? ![]() That could be. I got it from a dealer locally that claimed his father had been an agent/manager for a number of illustrators like Baumhoffer, Kunstler, and others. Not sure what to think of his claims, but he had a spectacular collection and gave me a great lead on where many of the Doc Savage pulp covers may be. I was lucky enough to talk to Mr. Bama on some projects my company was doing and he didn't have much interest in talking paperback, but more of the Aurora monster box paintings. We had a few interesting talks about them, one of the things he has told me was that he was glad he was legally blind at that point, as it made it much easier to turn down people that asked him to paint still. He was happy on his rowing machine, reading with the help of a large magnifier. I got this after he passed away, I wish I would have been able to ask him about it. Not sure what he would have told me though! I guess I should check with one of the local paperback dealers to see if he has an idea. Out of curiosity, does yours have a tag on the back with a collection name? |

These large headsketches in books had nice quality to them as Neal Adams wanted to bring more iconic looks to match the classy book design. ![]() If I remember getting correct, he had a small stack he did in advance of the show. They really did turn out so nice. |

That's just nice inking to capture cleanly the original silver age feel. ![]() It was such an interesting thing when complete. A few of the old Aurora collectors were sure they had had this kit back in the 60's, truly believing it was a vintage kit. |

Magical with the illuminating moonbeams going through her dress to reveal more. The Karloff look is haunting! This emphasizes all the seduction and sophistication of the film. ![]() Daniel has done some beautiful work with the Universal Monsters films, this is so perfect! |

You're welcome. Yeah, they'[re now priced MUCH higher than they would've been just a few months ago. But he passed away, so you know how that goes, you gotta pay the "death premium"! ![]() I was kind of lucky to get the one Bama I have, that whole death thing is catching up with a lot of us I guess. Such a nice guy, I was lucky enough to speak with him a number of times and have him autograph some items for me. |

While Olivia did know Bettie very well, many of the Bettie signatures on her art were done at different times. Robert Bane the owner gallery at the time most of these paintings were created would have Bettie sign when she came in. Not sure Olivia would remember each piece but Bettie signed many artworks and prints. It is great to see them. ![]() Interesting to know. There was a PSA/DNA cert with them so I was pretty positive they were legit but didn't know all of that. Thanks so much! |

Beautiful Bettie Page! Always loved this one. Thank you for posting your paintings! ![]() Thanks! Nice thing about both the Betties I posted is she signed them. I keep thinking to ask Olivia if she signed with her, or the previous owner had some arrangement to have done. Tough autograph I had always thought. |

This would have made for a good prequel to Solo. The idea is cool and executed to bring a heartwarming feel. ![]() At the time he did this one, he had a whole line of similar, kind of a mashup of Star Wars and Calvin & Hobbs. I have some others I'm going to post that was based on a set of characters he called Wookie the Chew as a similar mashup with Winnie the Pooh and Star Wars. Really imaginitive stuff. I wish he was a little better known as some of his work is really fantastic. |
