Thanks, mine as well! Meant so much to finally get a page from this book.
Yes, I love how hes featured in several images on the same page, couldnt ask for much more Mon-El!
Couldnt agree more, and at the time it really popped on that full-bleed Baxter paper!
Yes! I love the hand made fox work like that, white/out, zipatone, all sorts of tricks used to get a cool effect.
Thanks Marcus, and Eye agree, its my favorite part of the page!
Thanks! I really love it too and am happy to have it!
Ha I think we ALL were hoping for Supergirl! But Jekkie was still great.
Thanks for the comment, and couldnt agree more, it was a special book in their hands.
Yeah, I'd admired it for years, was surprised to see it pop up on CLink a while back, had to grab it!
He has such a beautiful line, it's true! I hope to get a strip with a tree in it one day, love the way he drew trees.
Agree completely, he was the best, and timelesslly hilarious as well.
Thanks Grant! Well I'd say this is proof that you shouldn't give up! I'd been looking for many, many years, and finally, voila, there it was! Good luck in the hunt!
Thanks Bill, much appreciated! I would have been happy with any page from this issue, but I was especially pleased to land such a nice one!
Hi Nathan! Thanks for the input. I agree with you, it's very similar to the toy art, but is not quite 100% what ended up on the finished product. I suppose it's possible that his original was altered by Kenner before the packaging was printed, but I'm not sure why that would be the case. That being said, I can't find any trading card that matches this art at all. So, it's very odd. I'm hoping to find the truth! At the time I purchased it, Spencer wasn't talking to people (I think he was ill, or at least not feeling well) and Keith was similarly not really talking, so I wasn't able to get any information from them. Hopefully the truth is out there! Regardless, I'm happy to have it, as you don't see Keith drawing in this style much anymore.
Thanks, appreciate it! I was amazed that the page had lasted that long laying around Ron's studio, waiting decades to fall into my hands! It's definitely my favorite issue, it really did a number on me as a kid. I borrowed my friend's copy, read it, then had to have my own copy, which I still have!
Thanks, I'm thrilled to have it!
Beautiful! He's coming to Cinci Comic Expo in the fall, hoping I can get something done then. Well done!
Beautiful pick up, extremely jealous. Favorite issue of any comic when I was a kid. If you ever let it go, please let me know!
This page affected me so strongly when I was a kid, I wrote my first letter to a comic book! (And it was published a couple of issues later!) If you ever decide to sell, please let me know, I'd love to have it. Awesome pick up!
Terrific! I actually got this cover signed by Adam many, many years ago. I love the use of negative space. Great pickup. If you ever decide to sell (and I totally understand if you don't) please hit me up!
Such a huge fan of your stuff. This cover (and the entire New Mutants run in particular) instantly transports me back to my childhood. Thanks for sharing and please keep going!
That is just beautiful. Great pick up. I think Blevins is one of the most underappreciated artists in comics. Terrific page, congrats!
Also a huge fan and follower of your work here, and I hope you'll keep sharing these beautiful pieces with us in your gallery!
Thanks so much, "Skeleton Key" really is an under-appreciated treasure, glad to see there are other fans on here!
Thanks Timothy! You definitely speak the truth. It has only been a week since I got this piece, but I have spent a significant amount of time since then thinking of what I can sell in order to get some more cash for Mignola art! Toys...statues...pretty much everything except the wife and our cats is fair game! (And the cats should keep their eyes open...)
WOW, great pick-up! I am kicking myself for not checking out Mark's table! Great job!
Great pick-up, Fred! Glad to see you were able to get on his list, I know it was loooong! And I think I was in line somewhere behind that guy with what seemed liked 20,000 books to sign. And to think I felt kinda greedy bringing three! Anyways, it's lovely, congrats!
You weren't kidding, you DID do well at D-Con too! Lovely piece, love his line work here. It's so clean, and it's just such a classic look!
Thanks, Neil, I appreciate it! Oooh, you definitely speak the truth. Just last night I caught myself perusing art sites and classifieds, thinking "Hrm...for just THIS much I could get a cover..." which is definitely dangerous! I'm afraid I may be on a slippery slope!
Thanks, J, I hope you get to meet him soon too, he is a lot of fun to talk to. I realize this scan sorta sucks, so I will try to get a better pic up soon!
Couldn't agree more, I think he's a very under-appreciated talent!
Thanks! Yeah, I knew it was special as soon as I saw it. And apparently I'm not the only one. When Evan saw that I had bought it, he said that one of his friends was going to be super pissed that he'd missed out on it!
Thanks, man! Yeah, I really love the Moys/Carani LoSH/Legionnaires era, I think it's far and away the best since the Levitz/Giffen years. I'd love to have a whole series of Moy Legion ladies, maybe some day! I've got a nice Saturn Girl piece by Jeff that I need to get scanned and put up soon!
