Good old junk mail! The spam of physical snail mail back in then and even now! The flawless linework by Kelly is smooth and natural as ever with that light touch. ![]() He has such a beautiful line, it's true! I hope to get a strip with a tree in it one day, love the way he drew trees. |

Steppenwolf Pin-up by Keith Giffen Kenner Super Powers Action Figure Card Art? Owner: Brent Stewart Comment posted on 9/28/2022
Nathan Hanley said:
It sure looks like it, but there are a few minor differences between this and the super powers card art - very slight lines and shadows that don't quite match up if you scrutinize the two. It could have been changes in the production process, just don't really know. I'd be super curious what you've got here... it's way cool regardless, and absolutely connected to the super powers figure card art somehow! ![]() Hi Nathan! Thanks for the input. I agree with you, it's very similar to the toy art, but is not quite 100% what ended up on the finished product. I suppose it's possible that his original was altered by Kenner before the packaging was printed, but I'm not sure why that would be the case. That being said, I can't find any trading card that matches this art at all. So, it's very odd. I'm hoping to find the truth! At the time I purchased it, Spencer wasn't talking to people (I think he was ill, or at least not feeling well) and Keith was similarly not really talking, so I wasn't able to get any information from them. Hopefully the truth is out there! Regardless, I'm happy to have it, as you don't see Keith drawing in this style much anymore. |

Congrats on getting such a meaningful page for you. It's probably my own fav' issue of that second What If run (and I'm still kicking myself for not buying another page from that issue early in my collecting career ;) ![]() Thanks, appreciate it! I was amazed that the page had lasted that long laying around Ron's studio, waiting decades to fall into my hands! It's definitely my favorite issue, it really did a number on me as a kid. I borrowed my friend's copy, read it, then had to have my own copy, which I still have! |

Hecate by Mike Mignola Owner: Brent Stewart Comment posted on 9/11/2010 Thanks Timothy! You definitely speak the truth. It has only been a week since I got this piece, but I have spent a significant amount of time since then thinking of what I can sell in order to get some more cash for Mignola art! Toys...statues...pretty much everything except the wife and our cats is fair game! (And the cats should keep their eyes open...) |

Apparition from Legion of Super-Heroes by Jeff Moy Owner: Brent Stewart Comment posted on 7/18/2010 Thanks, man! Yeah, I really love the Moys/Carani LoSH/Legionnaires era, I think it's far and away the best since the Levitz/Giffen years. I'd love to have a whole series of Moy Legion ladies, maybe some day! I've got a nice Saturn Girl piece by Jeff that I need to get scanned and put up soon! |
