Congratulations, great piece from one of the foundation story arcs. Thanks for posting the art
Sincere Congrats Michael, this one has been a long time in coming.
Bought this off the stands as a kid, thanks for posting, has a very 'grey tone' feel to it. Classic Stuff
Thanks for posting this, great to see the art. Its like JRR woke up in Perez's body for a day and drew this lol. Awesome DPS. Congrats.
Hey man, I didn't know you picked this up :O WOW, that's crazy as I know you were looking as to the whereabouts for quite sometime. I think I remember you standing up for McLeod's stuff like years ago and citing this cove as an example. Sincere congrats, I'm sure its gotten the frame treatment and prominent display at Casa Park. :)
Well bought Michael ;) looks like great detail on that cover. congrats.
Awesome cover, thanks so much for posting it as I had never seen the OA before. Congrats on the acquisition and hopefully this removes you from the 'being in the market' crew of potential buyer so I can pick up an example one day ;)
Great cover, thankfully this was your first issue and not #12 :) Thanks for posting this.
Its the reason for the movie(s) good and bad; for the Punisher being where he is in the Marvel Universe; for ASM 129 being broken out in the guide ;) and becoming a prominent key; might be the best cover of the Copper Age by arguably the best Cover artist of his generation. Plus this cover just kicks #*$&$*. Thanks so much for posting this for everyone to enjoy.
This Ad ran in sooooo many comics, great to see the art, thanks for posting it.
Totally agree Ron, even though I'm a Copper Age kid, Gene Colan is the artist that I think about when I envision DD. He is the classic artist for the character IMO. This is such a great cover, sincere congrats on obtaining it for your collection and posting it here for us to enjoy.
Hari, For some reason I missed seeing this when you first posted it and only upon checking out the Lowry submissions did I stumble upon it. I remember this image soo well and to see the art after all these years ... thanks so much for posting it.
WOW, great cover and thanks so much for posting for everyone to see / enjoy. Love the composition and dynamics on this piece.
So many things get broken up these days :( it is nice to see these together in one place. Sincere congrats on keeping them that way and posting for others to share.
So you finally found it :) sorry to be a bit tardy in adding congratulations but I'm always happy to see somebody find art from their first comic, onwards to reuniting the whole book ;) Great pickup Gene and your efforts to get in contact with the owner and acquire this piece allow the rest of us to appreciate it so, 'drinks all around' on this one.
That's just awesome, great to see this piece and thanks so much for posting it.
The title splashes by Grell on Warlord were always so awesome. I remember knowing every time I opened a Warlord comic that the first page was going to be action packed and this DPS is a perfect example of Grell at his best, setting the up tempo tone for the rest of the comic. Sincere congrats on owning this awesome piece of OA.
Wow I had never come across this one before, loved this cover and the line art is amazing, congrats.
Wow, ok I'm in shock, first I'm always in shock when I see this cover because of the perfection of the composition - always say that Sienkiewicz's work in this period just stood out on the racks, apart from everyone else in the best possible way. I'm really in shock that Ferran parted with this one, but it looks to have gone to a good home.
I can't believe I never saw this before. Such an iconic splash from the first JRJR run. I love the fact that the Jim Shooter graffiti is on the Garbage can lol. Oh the symbolism there, I wonder how that slipped by and if Jim was aware of it. Congrats on owning this one.
AWESOME page Michael. This whole sequence was just great and I remember being scared to turn the page as a kid fearful of what was going to happen next.
Awesome DD vs. Dr. Doom panel by Colan. So classic, thanks so much for posting this, it is so nice to be able to see art from this issue.
Deathstroke panels from the Judas Contract storyline, as always I gasp in awe before them. This one has a lot of nostalgia to it, congrats Michael and as always thanks for posting the art.
Oh Yeah!!! I remember buying this mini-series off the racks. Anything Bob Layton did in this time period was pure awesomeness.
This is a masterpiece from one of the true Modern talents to grace the Medium. Sincere congrats Gene and thanks for sharing, just a :O acquisition.
Michael, sincere congrats on obtaining this 1/2 splash just an awesome image from one of the best books in the run.
Great example and I remember it well, just love the composition on this cover. Awesome acquisition, congrats.
I'm torn on this one. Gene buying DC :O but if you are going to buy a DC piece I couldn't think of a better place to start, as long as it doesn't become a habit lol Insane detail on a beautiful cover, sincere congrats on this acquisition.
It represents the Best of the Comic Art medium, the superlatives are exhaustive. Thanks so much for posting this so it can be appreciated for what it is - a tour de force work of skill, imagination and unsurpassed artistry.
I was 12 and chasing down all the Secret Wars tie ins. When I came across this cover I subsequently began reading C&D and thus succumbed to another Marvel marketing ploy. Just an iconic Copper Image, congrats on obtaining this.
SUPERB!!!! The detail, composition, use of perspectives all A+ love this piece. Color me totally jealous with sincere congrats on owning a wonderful piece of OA.
Just outstanding, love the 'gun scope' element. This cover run was so iconic congratulations on owning one of the covers.
Awesome sequential panel, congrats on owning this classic page.
It is the BEST Perez Titans DPS Period!!!!! And that is saying a lot.
How does this iconic double page sequence only have one comment? Well no more. This is so early in one of the iconic comic book runs that Star Fire hasn't kissed Robin and learned English yet. Sequential Panel mastery by one of the best. Congrats.
To all those that have wondered (as a kid I thought about this daily) could Batman really take out Superman?? .... Yep. :)
Excellent Jam piece Michael, as always George delivers on a multi character piece. Looks like you've been busy with some great new acquisitions. Congrats.
Wow that is a really nice Byrne X-Men page with Wolvie all over it. Congrats and thanks for posting it.
One of the most under rated series in the late 80s early 90s. The Story and Art were awesome throughout. Nice to know the OA is out there, congrats on this one.
Ah, Michael I see you scored another one of the early Baxter pages. Congratulations, as always I appreciate seeing the art - you have been busy recently :)
This cover definitely deserves a comment, one of the most under rated series of the late 80s early 90s. Very Cool.
Gene, not surprised you own this, just hadn't seen it before for some reason. Just awesome man another early fav of the now 30 something crowd ;). An early back issue for me too.
With Terry posting the old Russ Cochran catalogs featuring Wrightson plates, I though i would come back and visit this masterpiece and actually leave a comment. Not only is this amazing work the cornerstone of a collection, it is a cornerstone of the medium itself. Congrats
Very nice Panel; Deathstroke, Judas Contract hard to go wrong there. I was very tempted to ping Mike to pick this up last month, thanks for removing the temptation.
This is the Best Deathstroke Cover ever, 'I'll fight anyone who says differently'. :))
