You're probably right -- I was basing my first reaction on the fact that the comment showed detailed familiarity with Stevenson's novel, which Ruth Roche, as scriptwriter, naturally would have had. But then a scripttwriter would not be privy to the editorial process. Harry M. Adler, as managing editor, is a much better candidate.
This was one of the artist Norman Nodel's favorite pages among all of his work for the Gilberton Company. It was certainly his favorite in "Ivanhoe" -- the page that he specifically asked to be used in the chapter devoted to him in "Classics Illustrated: A Cultural History" (McFarland, 2002).
