Wow! I love this more than the finished page (which I well remember!). The mastery of camera movement here is just awesome and I love that he doesn't cheat his figure construction at all, even when he could in a few places. Damn, that's a find.

Great Rude page! I didn't read the Before Watchmen series, so running across the pages is completely new to me, and Steve is such a solid craftsman on those three tiers - even with totally different layouts to all of them. Great stuff!
Superb layout and placement of negative and positive space on that first panel! For everyone who loves big splash pages, they're missing out on the intricate beauty and craftsmanship required to make a panel like this so effective. Great page!
As a huge Master of Kung Fu fan from back in the day, getting the chance to work with Paul and Doug on a series was beyond great. Paul's pencils, at his best, were almost too tight, so I keep on using the brush to make sure I kept a degree of life to the art.
looking back all these years, its great to see comments like this. Makes me think all those hours at the board weren't wasted!

Putting this book back together? Not going to ever happen. I know one owner of three pages from that book that will never part with them. This is a great page, one that leads into the killer fuller page kick from Mar-Vell.
