Thanks for checking it out, I was so happy to get it. He had this and one other available at the time, but this was the one in my mind, very dynamic. I'm so honored to own it.
I just meant early in terms of his life, as that man worked well into the 1990s. But yes, by no means his "earliest" work. Al was a true gent, one of the nicest men I ever interacted with. I love seeing this page, definitely some of his rarer work.
Phenomenal early work from Al, just beautiful. Congrats on such a terrific score!
I'm SPEECHLESS. This is so phenomenal. Thanks for sharing, Jim!
Phenomenal page, if you ever decide to sell it please keep me in mind. I always loved Norm on Batman.
That is magnificent. Congratulations!
Thanks! I was thrilled to get it, especially since I love that scene in Last Crusade so much.
Thanks Matt! I'm pretty happy with it. Love Lee's art.
Thanks David! I'm very happy with it, love Sam's war pages.
Terrific page! Kerry's work on SUPERMAN was terrific, and this piece is a shining example. If you ever decide to part with it, let me know.
Hey Gal, I just posted a really nice Kerry Gammill SUPERMAN page I'm selling, which won't happen often. From what I've found in my searching, getting a Gammill page that actually has Superman on it is getting to be next to impossible. I've seen some rather plain "exposition" pages of his with no costumed characters on them sell for close to $100. Not sure where everything is now, but seems like most of the desirable stuff is long gone. The only reason I'm selling the page that I just listed is because I have two pages from the same issue (#25, my favorite issue he worked on).
Oh come on, Steven. Nude illustrations can be tasteful and beautiful, and this is both. Adam's work here is reminiscent of classic greats like Vargas. Nothing tacky in my eyes. I think you're really being oversensitive with your comments here.
Thanks much, MJ! It's one of my favorites.
This is one of my favorite Dan Jurgens covers of all time. Great piece, very jealous of it! Congrats.
Thanks Gal! I actually was unfamiliar with Cockrum's DC work, but have since done a bit of homework. I mostly collect Superman pages, so finding a page with Supes on it that Dave worked on was a dream come true.
Thanks Frank! I was very happy to get this one. I actually had another page from the this issue with pencils by Mooney and inks by Art Adams, but it was not very exciting. When I got this one I let that other one go. This one was worth the wait.
I'd be scared to death to even touch this. Simply incredible. I'm amazed at how beautiful it is even to this day, looks like it was done yesterday! Fabulous piece, congratulations.
Stunning. Another fantastic job by Adam. Seriously, the guy can't do a bad commission.
Great cover. I too would like to know how exactly you flattened this so successfully. I have a page (oddly enough a Spidey page) that is in major need of flattening - though it has some moisture damage too, and is considerably warped. Can you please let us know?
This was always one of my favorite McFarlane Spidey covers. I love the fact that it's on DC COMICS board. HA!
