A wonderful and memorable moment between Clea and Dr Strange. Congratulations on a beautiful page.
Wonderful page! I had not seen the original art for this page before and it is spectacular in its detail.
Amazing Splash. I envy you. I love Brunner on Dr Strange. Please check out my prelim for this piece in my Marvel Premiere gallery.
Wonderful page! Maybe the best page of that broken-up issue. Congratulations on a rare Ditko Dr. Strange.
Actually that is Kirby's take on Dracula (JO 142 and 143 (The Man from Transilvane! and The Genocide Spray!) this two part story took Kirby imagination to a new level, a planet where everyone is a 1940s movie monster.)
I love the ending to this story. Too bad we didn't get to go back and see Kirby's take on Oklahoma.
Wonderful page. I am very envious of you, congratulations on a incredible acquisition!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to photograph and post this exhibit. This is definitely the most Ditko art (and some of the best) I have seen at one time. Getting to the exhibit in person was going to be impossible but you allowed me not to miss the impact of this master's work.
Sorry, not for sale. Blake Bell wrote the 2008 biography of Ditko, now cheap used, I recommend it. Strange and Stranger: The World of Steve Ditko by Blake Bell
I purchased it from a trading card dealer. I was a big user of USENET and he published an ad where this and some other autographed cards were available. At the time I was looking for everything Ditko and it was affordable. I only found an image of the redemption card much later which I kept around for reference. I only have doubts about authenticity because when I shared it with Blake Bell (the only Ditko expert I knew) he was not very encouraging. So it lives in a drawer and I like to think it is real. It is great to see those letters that Ditko wrote to you. Thanks for writing.
Amazing and rare. Thanks for sharing this beauty.
Incredible painting! I wish I had 30 K extra to put it on my wall.
Great cover. I like the classical approach to Wonder Woman, a little like P. Craig Russell.
You are a man of great taste. The joy of original art (or stats) is how you can really see the art in a single panel.
Well "he is the law" actually, I just wanted it to read the other way. :)
Real nice Dredd. It also has "I am the law" always a plus in the definitive Dredd portraits. Congratulations.
Beautiful page. The inking makes it almost three dimensional.
I found the original page on 4-29-13. Herb Trimpe was selling it himself. A Trimpe page without Hulk but very beautiful.
I have several pages from this issue. The detail that Guice brought to the project are worth seeing in person. Congratulations!
You dog! I do believe THAT is the best page of the issue (Splashes always come first). Congratulations.
Yes that is the Spider-man splash page of my dreams. It has all the emotion, all the characters, and all the drama that made me want to turn the page. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful piece.
Wow. Simply wow.
Awesome! I really should go through your gallery more often. It captures a character and costume in a very sweet way.
That page is fantastic but the story of how you got it is even better! There is nothing like owning something you never thought would be yours. Thought you might like this other literary page "The Library of Dream". It has all the books mentioned in Sandman. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=767602&GSub=59755
I like this a lot. It is a creative interpretation and has a lot of "mystical" engery.
Awesome page. I will need to get one soon too for much the same reasons. Nostalgia for a great two-parter.
Absolutely awesome. One of the most striking Joker illustrations I have seen.
This is a wonderful painting. I appreciated hearing the story about it when you were profiled as "CAF Premium Member of the Week".
Hans K said: "In case you're wondering this original has been in my collection since 1990 when I purchased it out of a CBG ad. At the time, it was a very messy assemblage of art, stats, and white-out all pasted down to a piece of acidic-looking shirt cardboard for support. To save it from impending deterioration, I sent it to conservator, Susan Cicconi, who performed what amounted to magic. Today, it looks great and stands as one of the earliest known JIM cvrs. in existence. "
Thanks Hans for the interesting history. This stat is from a Marvel advertisement at the time and I agree it is a masterpiece.
This is awesome. I think this was one of the first Neal Adams stories I ever saw. It was reprinted in a big Batman hardback "Batman from the 30s to the 70s"
This is wonderful! A magical "Where's Waldo" that I need to look at inch by inch. Congratulations.
I have been enjoying this book. It is nice to see some of the detailed art from it. Congratualtions!
I have another page from this issue. This is actually from Doctor Strange #1 ! Somehow when they wrote the issue number on top of the page they wrote "1" in pencil and again in pen but not on top of each other so it looks like issue 11.
This is a lot of fun. You shoul do this for more artists as your theme.
Incredible page. You might like to see the pre-lim for this page in my gallery.
I used to own this page. One of the few I ever sold. This is a great page with its stretched panel design. Congratualations on a wonderful purchase!
Hart, all I will need is your immortal soul! HA! HA HA! (and control of this dimension).
This is my son's favorite movie! You did a great job capturing the colors and feel of the movie.
