Yes, Mark is one of the best and a damn nice guy... Much to learn from him I still have...
Yeah I love it and it is one of Mark's favourite pieces that he has done. I love it because it works as like a billing poster that you used to see on the pillars at cinemas but it also works as a standalone piece of art.
Yeah. Basically Christian was the pencil on the tales of the Jedi comic book series. The series was in publication before Star Wars episode 1 was going to happen. Christian came up with the idea that exar kin would have this double bladed lightsaber as a Jedi who had fallen to the dark side. When I met Christian I said it would be awesome to have both characters face-off against each other in a fight with the same weapon and he drew that for me. It was one of the first pieces of original art that I ever picked up. I got it at the same convention that I got my Michael turner superman super girl piece.
Yes it is... Thanks... You should check out the rest of Mark's work if you haven't already
This is sensational... The composition, the colour, the lighting... incredible...
Yeha it is definitely up there with the best of them... I have to say that it definitely captures the character in look and disposition very well... Mark has done a brilliant job on this one.
Thanks... I got to see him finishing it off in the afternoon in the hotel when I met him to pick it up. I like it... it is kind of like a caricature of Indy rather than a straight up illustration.
Thanks... I think David put a little something extra into this one because I helped him out of a tight jam once to get an x-factor cover done.
Hahaha... Sorry... As is often the case with eBay. I have missed out on my faire share... At least it is here for the community to enjoy. I was sad to hear that Dave passed away a couple months after this auction.
I saw this piece before Colin left for Europe. I was tempted to steal it.. It's very nice. It is done with Copic markers though not ink wash. ;-)
Yeha Colin is the go to guy if you want anything millitary related draw.. The guy is a complete boss at it..
HAHAHAHA LOL... That's a great story... It's good to meet a fellow Adelaidean on CAF... :-)
yeah it was and a lucky one too.. Nicola's WW stuff is highly sort after by a few collectors. Art is very subjective, but I think that the way Nicola draws the character is pretty much exactly how I envisage the character. Like Nicola, I grew up with Linda Carter as WW so that is how we both visualise the character. Nicola will admit that their are many artists that are better than her, such as Alex Ross, but Nicola has a great sense for story telling which a lot of other artists lack and is a fantastic illustrator.. She also nails her perspective stuff every time. Something other artists are more hit and miss on..
that was when nicola was working on my batman sketch...
Yeah it was an amazing pick up and a very lucky one at that.. I agree that it definitely could be a cover to something. IF I ever consider selling it, it will be up on eBay for sale with a very steep starting bid ;-) ATB - Dan
Thanks for that. I try to get artists to do stuff they don't normally do on a regular basis or at all. It keeps them interested and challenhed at the sme time and it usually leads to great results.. I.e. this :-)
Yeah the detail is amazing as well as all the work that has gone into the shading.
If you do that would great... I would love to see them.. I draw a bit myself and it is always great to see these guys in action!
Thanks.. I missed out on seeing Frank work on this. He told me he was going to do it in the Hotel so I went home.. Oh well.. I got to see him do some other cool stuff and I filmed it a bit.
Sam I would frame it, but I don't trust framers in this country.. they tend to want to glue things into the frame.. Happened with my Michael Turner piece and Chris Goessett Star Wars piece.
That is absolutely amazing Royd.. You are so lucky. Check mine out.. no where near as good as yours, but I am happy never the less.. Frank was a really nice guy...
Yeah it is.. I think that there is only one part of this page that I don't quite like, but the composition of the page and the poses certainly make up for it.. It is certainly on of the best Supergirls nicola has drawn. Thanks for this one Royd and pass my regards on to Nicola.
You are one lucky bastard ROYD!!!! I mean that affectionately of course :D
Thanks.. head to http://www.wnichols.com/ to check out his other great stuff... ;)
I saw the original on Nicola's FB page and I wanted it, but she had already sold it so this was the next best thing..I would kill for a published WW piece from her though. :-)
Thanks guys.. Yeah I was blown away by how tight it was.. Given that I had got Ethan to do 2 sketches I had dropped a very pretty penny with hime so I guess he kind of felt a little obligated to do soemthing nice. I am pretty sure I was the only person over the weekend to get 2x2 fullbody sketch pieces off him..
Thanks! I think it goes well with the Matthew Clark Supergirl one that I have.
Yes I was very lucky. Darick is a really great guy. Mind you I paid a decent amount to get something this polished. I also helped him out with a few extra sheets of paper as he was running low ;)
Thanks! I was pretty lucky to get both characters as Michael was only doing 1 character sketches. I had a bit of a chat with Mike and his manager and they said let us have a think about what he can do and this is what they came up with which was exactly how I envisioned it form the beginning. Too cool for School!
Thanks! I have been after them for a while so when they appeared I swooped in like Superman and picked them up :P LOL
Yeah Colin Just hits this one out of the park without breaking a sweat.
That's a great shot of Colin in his studio. I wish I had studio like that. :)
That is fracking sick! I think I actually like that more than some of Jim Lee's Batman work.
Looks fantastic Dave.. I would love to buy it to add an original piece of your to my collection but I just don't have the free cash the moment.. :( I still have that 2 sec Superman you did though At Supanova Melbourne last year LOL. Are you going to getting back on the local Con circuit?
