Which is exactly what attracted me to it. That and the trade dress. I've seen lots of covers that are just illustrations really, with nothing to show that they were covers. I like my covers to be the full deal where possible. And being offered a Sal and Bob BP cover? No brainer for me.
The art is taken from my original Superman vs Hulk commission that Herb did for me back in 2003. All that has been done is the didigerdoo that the Hulk was holding has been erased and Superman is now Wolverine. But yes, I own the proper, original art to that.
Dave would have loved to ink this - he loved Ghost Rider and he liked inking Bob. It's a beautiful thing indeed.
Brilliant! He nailed the logo too. I'm amazed that DC feels that Trevor isn't good enough to work there.
Considering the beating he took in the current Marvel v Kirby court case, I'm not surprised that the first thing he said was "I wrote this!" He might have thought you were a lawyer. Brilliant page - I am envious.
'Twas a beautiful thing you did. Dave emailed me that day and told me how bloody impressed he was with Watchmen and how happy he was that you took him.
Seeing these last works of Dave brings tears to my eyes.
That's beautiful. Dave told me about the art but wouldn't let me see it until it was finished. Dave, a professional right to the end - some artists out there could learn a lot from the lessons Dave has left. God I miss him.
I think people forget that Andru & Esposito began to self-publish before Simon & Kirby. Great page!!
Very nice - reminds me a lot of my own Batman/Green Hornet sketch from the same time period.
Lovely - I wondered where this one went. Let me know if you ever want to part with it.
Ahhhh so this is where that page went. I have the rest of that issue, so if you ever decide to part with it then let me know.
Dude, never bring that around here because it'll never leave...God I'm so JEALOUS!!!
If you ever want to sell this page then let me know. I own pretty much the rest of the issue in pencil form.
Dude, if you like the concept, let alone the drawing, then you've got some serious issues to work out.
Strata Rocketeers? Does that mean that they can't change the appearance or do any meaningful maitanence on their rockets without the approval of everyone else who owns a similar rocket?
Brilliant!!! If you ever decide to part with that then let me know and I'll happily double any offer you get.
Damn!!! That's as good as a recreation that I've ever seen. Incredible work!
