This was posted on a blog a few years ago and after showing it to Steranko (in an email), he told me that many of the full page spreads in the 2 Volumes of The History of Comics and The Superhero Calaendar (where the Wolverton drawing was published) , were based of layouts he created.
When Steranko's recreations for the covers of Hulk Annual #1 and Nick Fury, Agent of Shield #6 showed up on the internet many years ago, I asked Steranko about them and he told me that they were done on the 1980's. He also said there was a third one, a recreation of his Captain America Marvelmania poster. This might be that drawing.
The pencilled Steranko original was printed in Comixscene #1, back in 1972.
This was the cover for a book called "Meth od" by Clifford Meth. Nice of you to post it as it looks much better here than on the book cover!
