It was just a 'victim' of needing to thin out the collection a bit and two other Sayger pieces I own were a bit more nostalgic for me. Great pick up. It was also published in one of his sketchbooks, but I forget which one. Thanks for the back story. I think its just a great piece. I love his work. I also understand that every once in a while one needs to thin out the collection. I am glad you decided to part with this one! |

Could it be that he is crouching. That big thing sticking out of his chest looks like his knee unless it's a new bat-deformity. Either way, great artwork. That is a great observation. It would appear that the knee is up under the cape. He may have a leg up on the base of the column as well. The shadows in the wrap of his cape make it difficult to be certain but I agree with your comment |
