A great image. O'Barr nailed the likeness – and the emotion

Thank you Mike, I agree, the likeness is uncanny, the detail is even more incredible in person right down to the hairs in front of Brandon's face.

awesome art and story.

Thank you, yeah Simon is a really cool guy to talk to, people were coming up in the bar and talking with him who didn't know who he was, which was probably a small distraction to him, but he is always enjoyable to talk to if you get a chance to meet him at a show, etc.

Thank you Troy for the comment, yes Nat is a really nice guy, I am lucky to call him a friend and so glad I was able to get him to contribute to my sketchbook for not only The Crow, but also my Batman one.

Thank you Horacio, yes I agree, Bill did an amazing job on it and even James O' Barr commented to his fans about how much he enjoyed Bill's interpretation.

If I was fortunate to be able to travel, I'd be at every convention/show James would be appearing at. You have commissions from 1993? Colour me green with envy! I'm also interested in how other artists interpret Eric/The Crow and will definitely check out your gallery. :)

Sounds good, check out the gallery anytime, I have everything up here on this site for viewing, along with my original page from the original mini-series (I used to have four pages all in order from the Gideon Pawn Shop scene starting with the page entitled "Absolution" but sold off three of them years ago. Back in 2006 James was offering a really nice Crow sketchbook via his eBay site. They were hardcover illustrated cover design sketchbooks with blank pages inside to have sketches done, and he would offer them with an original two-page splash sketch on the inside front cover. They would end for around $60-$80 on eBay, so I managed to get one and started getting other artist interpretations back in 2007. The most recent one I had done was in April 2012 by Detective Comics artist Tony Daniel.

I wish I could say that this is a commission but it's not. He picked it out for me calling it 'the best in his book'. Even though I love this piece to death, I can't wait to get another one. His work is addictive and I wish you all the best in getting your commission. I can't say enough great things about Mr. O'Barr. :)

Well I will agree, it is an amazing piece, you did quite well! Oh I have some commissions from James starting back in 1993. I also get other artist interpretations of the character, you should check out my gallery here on comicartfans when you get a spare moment. :)

Four years is definitely not too long to wait for this. Splendid piece.

It became a running joke between Clayton and I, we live fairly close so he would appear at a few more conventions here than say if he hadn't lived in the area, so I would just have him work on it when he had time, there was never any rush. Clayton is an incredibly nice guy in-person too.

This is amazing. Tony absolutely killed it.

Thanks, yeah I really did luck out, especially since it was my first time getting on his commission list and I know others have tried multiple times. Having him do the sketch in my Crow hardbound sketch book (that creator O'Barr offered on his site years ago) was a plus too because I wasn't sure if he would do it, but Tony was beyond gracious. He asked what I wanted it to look like and all I said was "Have him look pissed". Since I was an exhibitor at the show, I gave him my sketch book and mentioned for him to take his time. He said to return later in the afternoon and when I did, I was stunned at how much detail he put in. Worth every single penny and then some. ;)

Haha! A bit of backstory to your piece, it almost wound up in my book! Yours and mine had gotten mixed up at the table and I caught it just a bit before Tony started. It came out so gorgeous I wish it had ended up with me! Congratulations!

Did you also request The Crow, Chad? Thanks for catching the book switch too. When Tony asked what I wanted character wise I simply said "The Crow, and make him pissed" and he nailed it big time.

thanks for offering this page way back when. it's been hanging on my wall since the day I brought it home! love it.

No problem, nice to see it is still being enjoyed, and also glad to see it popped up on here. Curious if the other two pages I sold end up here as well. Why I sold them I don't know as I had this page and the three that followed it, but still have the fourth page in this sequence still though.
