Wish I had saved a bigger scan. Once I finally had a large scanner at first I was still making them at what 'looked fine' on my monitor back then. Now I see many I wish I had saved at least a large size.
When my son bought me a larger monitor one Christmas EARLY saved images now looked really too small.
Man, haven't done a show since the pandemic!!
RIP Mr. Giella! Thanks for the comics and art that inspired me! He was a cartooning great!
(VERY cool piece of art!)
HazLEwood...a VERY common spelling error, as some of the Hazlewoods (half) spell it that way. Saw some of my FB friends post art from CAF and wondered why they misspelled my last name.
Found some scans since I had no scanner when doing this book. Would make quality Xerox copies until I finally got one, but it was a small scanner!
I remember talking to Malcolm at a Dallas Fantasy Fair and telling him how much I loved his inks. He was so humble and gracious. So sad to hear of his death in 1996...just NOW saw it was a suicide. Wow...I don't remember hearing anything about that back then. He was so easy to talk to.
I remember wondering what he had passed from when I heard about his death. AAAGGHHH!! Makes me sad.
Had never seen the card and saw this when searching for another comic artist. Love it!!!
RIP Mr. Bama! Bought so many paperbacks just for the cover paintings by James Bama!
WOW! Had never seen this before. That is gorgeous! I am envious!!!
Still have the calendar. May sell it to my comic shop buddy. Glad I looked it up!!
That is so 'fresh' and cool looking! Thanks for posting!!
Woah, that toned image IS the bomb!
Pretty sure Denis Rodier inked that, not me (I know it's not me).
All of the covers were gorgeous and this one is ESPECIALLY gorgeous!! A master at work!
WOW! Now THAT is how to ink/finish his pencils!!!
I always shake my head in admiration at artists who can make something look cool without fussing over something. It just looks so spontaneous and stytlish!!! I wish I had that kind of an artistic mind.
Wow! The series that got me interested in current comic books (at the time) again. Despite the Flexographic printing that muddied Zip-A-Tone effects, etc. once Ordway started inking it I was hooked! All those characters and a perfect art team to handle them! When I started working for DC and got to go to their offices the first time I got a foreign printing of CRISIS with a better print job! Did the artwork more justice!
