Was I really grumpy, or just giving you a hard time? Sorry if I came off grouchy! Thanks for supporting my work.
Just for the record, I inked this as well!
-Aaron Lopresti
Andrew and Buscema penciled and inked the cover but then they had Marie Severin redraw the Kull figure and pasted over the original cover art.
Thanks! You are probably being too kind but it is one of those strange coincidences.
It was Toy Fare Magazine but I am not sure I have a copy and don't remember what issue it was. Maybe you can find it on Google? I'll see what I can dig up.
It's funny how you can draw so many commissions you start to forget doing some of them. Glad you are happy with it!
I can't believe I did this piece 14 years ago! Even stranger, I still like it!
That's a "save for retirement" page:)
Thanks for the info on the piece. The devil dinosaur piece is very cool as well. So we each got one!
You were the one who was bugging me to post some of my art collection, so here's a start!
Nice job pulling off that Wrightson brush stroke!
Incredible! Your awesome collection just continues to grow!
Even though I did this 5 years ago it is still one of my favorite convention sketch pieces I have done.
Adam- So glad to see this hanging in a frame on your wall instead of back up on ebay which so frequently happens. Thanks again for purchase!
Thanks, Miki. When you get your pennies saved up you know where to find me:)
Yeah, nice score, Jerry! How do you keep talking that guy into doing tthese sketches?
How awesome is this?! I loved these cartoons as a kid and I still do! Great job!
Hey, Jim. Long time no hear. Thanks for the nice comments. It was a real treat to get to work with Tim, he obviously did a tremendous job on the inks. By the way, I am jealous of your ever growing Ploog gallery!
Judging by the contents of your gallery it is not surprise this is your favorite:) Thanks for the kind comments.
I was really going for an homage to those 60's paperback covers that we all know and love so well.
I still think this is one of the nicer marker pieces I have ever done. I am surprised at how often it has changed hands. Glad you got it and like, though.
Thanks. I was a big Steranko fan growing up and he did this type of thing quite a bit. I didn't discover Eisner until later, who was obviously the forerunner of this type of work.
Tom this might be the ultimate John Carter page. All three characters and Gil Kane inked by Nebres. This was my favorite series when I was a kid! Very jealous!
Wow, this brings back memories! When you are writing your own script you get to put pages in like this. FYI - The decapitated head with the beard in the lower left hand corner is none other than Chris Ulm, former EIC at Malibu!
Jim, what an absolutely fantastic piece! Mike's Santa Claus book is one of my all time favorites and was a true source of inspiration to me!
Wow! This is a piece I would love to have! This was one of my favorite stories from the 70's.
Thanks, Tim. Too bad no one reads this type of stuff anymore. I was born 15 years too late!
Scott- I consider my self a big fan/student of Neal's work. He was one of my biggest comic influences growing up. But I think his modern stuff is loose and sloppy looking and I really like that you have added some nice stability to his line work without compromising his drawing. Excellent work whether Neal likes it or not:)
This is one of my top three favorite covers of my Wonder Woman run.
This is my favorite Warren story by Wrightson! What a great piece of work! Scott, your collection is amazing.
Wow! I used to own this piece but had to sell it during one of my lean stretches. Wrightson was at his best back in the Creepy and Eerie days.
