Wow I dont think ive ever seen one of these pages fade that badly, it must have been hanging in a window on the sun for the last twenty years !!! Also is the truck in the first panel a paste up ?
This is just beautiful, the second I saw it I automatically thought of Podkayne of Mars lol
A great example of Woody using his own rule than people in panels would always be looking at what concerns them in the story and never the reader. I doubt any other artist at the time would have produced a page like this, im truely jealous ;)
That is just fantastic, Jerry is such an underrated artist.
I have to admit I love these early Frazetta Western covers probably for all the wrong reasons. Yes they are stunning to behold but even more interesting is the slightly wrong movement and proportions, almost as if two different artists were battling over pencil and inking styles. Such rawness and power delivered in near perfect finishing, probably why I think they teach us so much more about his development as an artist than the Famous Funny covers.
It always amazes me that this page doesn't have a dozen comments, it is a near perfect story telling page and the panel of Ollie is fantastic. If you ever let this go im yer man ;)
Looks like Frank Thorne picking up his date for the night, this is just beautiful ;)
Well this is just fantastic and sums up everything that made John the star that burnt too brightly. Seeing the inscription on the original makes it so much more than being the Beast of Babylon cover it was printed as. Thanks so much for posting this up for all to see.
I know John's art has never been a huge fan favorite, but I don't think ive ever seen any art other than maybe Bessette/Totleben that can set a scene of pure horror so easily. It is always an extra bonus to see John and Grant back together again.
I loved this run of green lantern but so many of the badguys sucked so badly lol, remember the guys with the kids powertools ;) The Shark realy didnt have the fear factor that Tigershark had...
Its a sin no one has ever comented on this, Bond is one of the unsung heroes of the late 80's industry that brought us Deadline and so many more treats. Lovely page ;)
Im pretty sure this page is from 'My Name is Chaos' I'll try to check for you over the weekend.
Plus no cats were harmed in the making of this cover ;)
The one thing that always surprised me about this cover is that ian didnt draw himself into the background in the bar! Someday this shall be mine ;)
Im shocked this hasnt got more veiws, I have always loved mark badger's work and this cover is just stunning!!!
Sorry it was a Christmas present from Ian, its one of my most treasured Halos.
I think it may have been previously printed in Valiant in the mid-late sixties, only real refence I could find to it was the Hurricane Anual but always possible the article I read was wrong and it was printed in the 1970 Valiant Annual ?
Ha should have known it was you, you old bastid. Its already on three views which is more than I expected, its all there so enjoy the read ;)
I wish I had this one this is just an example I posted up when gathering a few nes commissions for Ian, he is full up again but might be taking on more later in the year. I loved seeing your one coming together, id have been tempted to leave it as the underpaint stage it was quite haunting an image.
Gratz, I am not the biggest Bisley fan in the world but this is just about as good as it gets ;)
Such a terrible Starwars rip off of a cover, but you just have to love these old cheesey covers. Gratz a lovely find indeed.
Im sticking up the prelim to this cover if you want to see it ;)
You know you should just give me this one simply for the joy of annoying Peter ;)
Fantastic cover, what more could you have asked for ? You did a lovely job inking Herb on this one, show us more ;)
I still miss this one, glad it found a good home.
I never realised this one was being done for you, a fantastic choice in characters and Ian did a beautifull job on it, hang it with pride everyone should have their own personal Halo god knows I treasure mine a lot ;)
Great pages and even better reason for gratz. I wish more people saw these reasons for collecting art its not all about having a Jim Lee or jack Kirby page, its all about a chance to capture a moment from your childhood and those are the purest and greatests grails of all.
Id imagine if I ever let go off it, it will be going back into Steve's hands.
I know he did the Golden Age Lantern in All-Star comics inking Giffen and Estrada and a DC Special he inked with a JLA story which id love a page from.
How did I never notice this before ??? This is just a fantastic cover and serious gratz.
Really impressive haul, I always wanted a Gibson page from Project Overkill if you ever come across one let me know ;)
My mistake my friend has the full pencil and inked commission that this was either a prelim for or was based on. If you ever want to part with it let me know would be nice to get them both together.
Do you own this sketch ? I was pretty sure I knew exactly where this one was locked up and amazed its owner parted with her...
Sorry but have to be the first to comment on this, its just amazing to see such a body of work together in one place and such a fantastic storyline. This is something to line your burrial chamber and enjoy forever ;)
The hate grows lol, congratz Ash this is ne of the strongest images Mick ever drew and an absolute please to see again. thanks...
Such vastly under rated pages, Cam's color work was very rarely as strong as his Light and Darkness War pages.
Simply stunning, brings life back to the character that it hasnt had in decade, gratz on everything you are doing right now ;)
Love this one, im pretty sure it was printed in the inside cover of #1 but id need to check to be 100%. Gratz on this its a true Darkhore grail.
Congratz Richard a stunning page in the period which Dave produced his greatest art, its hard to think he was 2000ads page a day man. I don't think there is anyone else in the world could have produced so much so fast at such a quality and im sure it drove Brian to distraction trying to keep up with him during thier work on the Powers Comics series. Could'nt be in better hands and still think you should have named your charming new addition to the family Charlie ;)
