All these went for crazy bank on HA. Grats
Thanks Thomas. Marc indeed loves drawing Batman, and by golly I sure hope DC approaches and gives him the opportunity one day to work his magic on the series. We can only hope. The thumbnail progressions should be on his website and on facebook. He posted them their.
Thanks Kin. It was indeed a most pleasant surprise to learn after the piece was done that Marc did the inking himself. Truly masterful. Good luck on you comm when it's your time :)
Thanks Joe. Originally we were thinking of having the roles reversed (Batman resurrecting from the pit w/ Talia watching) to get a full body shot of Talia. I think this version was the better choice ;)
Thanks Dave. He certainly did go all out on this one :)
Thanks. Glad everyone was able to see the progression of this.
Thanks Alex. Indeed he did. By all accounts from his team, he really enjoyed working on this one (then again, I'm sure he enjoys working on all his pieces). I know he went though alot during the four years, so I'm really thankful he was able to work on it when time allowed and getting it done.
Thanks Dean. Going through the thumbnails and getting updates on the progression over time made the four years go by quite quickly. I'm sure quite a few people saw him working on it during his free time at some of the cons.
Thanks! I still can picture this headlining an issue someday. It will probably be in one of his future "art collection" books.
Good fricken Lord....... just seeing a pic of the original brings tears to my eyes. What a gem. Wish I had stuff to trade for it. Good luck with that, although I'm sure you're more than happy keeping it. HNY!
Killer piece. One of your best grabs yet!
Anything from the Original series is a gem and this is proof of that. Congrats.
One of the best MM cards done of her. Congrats!
OK, he really kicked ass on this one. There's not a single think you can not love all the way down to the bunny slippers. Congrats man. I'd totally buy a print of this if he makes them since the original isn't going anywhere :)
well worth it indeed. Time well spent. Congrats!
Nostalgic indeed. Great pickup!
Ya, when I was dealing with Greg on the piece, the idea was to create something that would fit what I was looking for and turn it into a print that would pop at his shows. I think the mission was accomplished :). Hopefully it can be a published piece someday :P.
He did the "Marvel Divas" one. It's one of his most recent one's with the women of the X-Men. The original is in my gallery if you want to check it out.
C&H is a classic, and knowing how rare Watterson lets anyone have an original piece of work makes this more than grail worthy. Even non-comic fans know and love C&H. Truly a treasure. Congrats!
Very nice. Always love Greg's details and colored work. His commissions like this always do turn out to be quite stunning. He did one for me as well and I'd recommend any fan to try and get one from him. Congrats.
It's rare a piece makes you do a double take, but even rare when one makes you do a triple or quadruple take. I really hope this gets published some day. What a grail indeed. Congrats!
Incredible piece. Well done by Dijana. A "Gem". Congrats Dean
That and Rogue holding Gambit's card were a great touch. :)
One of Marc's finest pieces and his best of Shi. Congrats on a beauty.
Great advice Steve. The archival corners were an option, bu I went with the archival Japanese paper "tape" mounting method which barely touched the back of piece, but surprisingly held everything in place pretty nicely. Your friend's advice is top notch and highly recommended for anyone that wishes to frame their painted pieces the proper way (museum archiving). :)
WOW...that's a beautiful piece Dean. So glad to see Rio's work continue to be loved by so many.
I guess you must feel sorry for a lot of people then. Art of characters is a reflection of an artists depiction of said characters. If you don't like it, that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. Not everyone likes every artists style/work. I guess you don't like Maxim or any SI swimsuit issue either.
Thanks Maria. I really think Greg nailed it with Phoenix and of course Emma :).
even better is a certain tattoo ;)
Thanks. It's one of Greg's best pieces of work imho.
