.... until at long last, the legend of Death Dealer was brought to an end....
The third panel on this page has always been one of my all-time favorites, Bob really nailed it with the Archer.
Yeah, Jade's death was pointless and anti-dramatic. Is she back among the living yet? Haven't followed the Darkest Night (or whatever it's called) series. They've got to stop killing heroes all the time, especially since it's become such a big joke (nobody ever stays dead after all...)
For those of you who read the Korvac Saga, ever wonder how Iron Man and Starhawk were brought back to life? (They died AFTER Korvac gave up his lifeforce to save the fallen Avengers/Guardians, after all) Fun piece to speculate on the outcome here... nah, Korvac would still win =P
And here I didn't think MODOK had it in him! Hmmm.... wonder what the kiss REALLY looked like...
Hehe... Photon's naughty, being the only one who's wearing a see-thru costume >8)
This is one of those times when I'm genuinely jealous! :)
Bagley's art was impressive to begin with and just keeps getting better. I wouldn't sell it either! :)
I loved this storyline! As much of a fan of John Buscema's artwork as I am, I would love to see it redone with your artwork! Baron Zemo at his all time best (or is that worst?), defeating the Avengers and taking over the mansion! A true classic!
Great art in spite of the content. Civil War was an abominable storyline, in my opinion, and yet turned out some of the greatest art I've ever seen in comics. Hasn't there been enough Cap vs Iron Man? Remember Armor Wars, Korvac Saga, and many others when these two took some particularly brutal shots at each other? I guess the good badguy storylines are all used up... or all the good writers are. But these are just the musings of a former Iron Man fan.
I actually have 2 copies of this card and have never seen the official Pitt card set... weird.
This was a great issue that really started to take Antman's and Jack's rivalry in a new and interesting direction until Bendis came along and screwed Marvel up completely. You can always tell the good writers from the bad by how they handle supporting characters. Geoff Johns brought depth to them, Bendis quickly (and lamely) killed them off. Well, that's my opinion anyway.
Yeah, at least they got the helmet in, at any rate. The classic personality would have been nice too. Doom's a perfect example of a villain who's much more effectively portrayed as over the top than being toned down for more realism (and who wants realism in a comic movie anyway???). I kinda think Galactus would have been better as a big blue and purple dude too, not some funky space cloud...
Who's bright idea was it to kill off one of the best second gen DC'ers, anyway? The goofs better be working on a story to bring her back, I say! Great pic.
Gaaahhh!!! No!!! It's the poser walk! If I were a villain I'd probably be too busy laughing at them to fight. That said, it is a great piece, and you really nailed the poser walk.
Kind of funny to think a guy with highly advanced robotics, holograms, and a powerful, high-tech suit of armor still guards the entry with a portcullis...
And then new writers go and screw it all up... it's a shame they don't let at least one couple stay happy together (well, there's always Reed and Sue... or are they splitsville too, now?) =P Anyway, this really is an exceptional panel, it hardly even needs any words.
Too bad you don't have the final page of this ish, that piece has got to be priceless.
