Julie Doucet is a fantastic cartoonist. One of the greats, truly, and that is a GREAT page!I feel she mapped out a very specific way of storytelling that was personal to her but influenced many, many others. To say nothing of her actual DRAWING, to go from the relative crudity of her early stuff for Weirdo, then to this, represents a big leap in sophistication. I could look at this page for days and days, really any page from this comic. What a great score. Kudos!

Wow, You have a first edition as Obadiah Oldbuck?! Impressive! And it is very, very cool how Mr. Ware has aped the drawing style so well....it's almost indistinguishable! He can draw in so many different styles (as evidenced by his published sketchbooks), it's truly breathtaking. "The Last Great Cartoonist", indeed! Thanks so much for sharing this!

HUGE J.R Williams fan and I agree he's one of the under=rated greats of "alternative" cartooning....in my opinion that short run of Crap comics (was this the last issue? If so gotta hit ebay, methinks, 1 to 7 have been in my sweaty grasp for a while now!) was as good as, if not better than, Bagge's Buddy Bradley stories at their PEAK...I dunno, I just think Mr. Williams had (has) a genuine artistic sensitivity that was for the most part lacking in Bagge's work, as great as it was...and I must say Mr. Williams is a very generous Fakebook correspondent who always has time for his fans (well, he always has time for ME, at any rate, but I'm sure he's like that with anyone who loves his work and asks intelligent questions or whatever!), I've had some great, long, P.M's/chats with him....seems like a very nice, sincere gentleman. And that makes me love his work even more! Yet again, another wonderful piece!

Amazing piece from one of the first TCJ's I bought! Great to see the b & w line work as the esteemed Mr. Ng Suat Tong previously mentioned....I am a HUGE fan of Mr. Cooper's work and a beautiful piece like this elicits such envy! But, Kudos, Mr. Callo, kudos on purchasing such a fabulous piece from a gallery full of top=notch (soz hyphen key broken!) art!!!

Why does "everyone talk about" this page? What is so special about it? Because, forgive me, I know it must mean a lot to you but it does diddly-squat for me. Apart from the nice balance of blacks. But I am honestly wondering why everyone talks about this...I don't even know what series it's from...

Great piece! Just noticed that you're the illustrious Sparklepony--I had a great laugh over the Gallery Baum Bushmiller fakes--it was I who wondered in the comments what pen Bushmiller used. Have you found out yet? I'd really like to know.... All the best! Ant (Vollsticks)

And who was one one of the psychiatrists who examined this aged seducer of the innocent, Albert Fish? Why, it was Dr. Frederic Wertham, of course. How appropriate, then, that this rather sick & twisted individual ended up in a comic book by an artist who was obviously influenced by the artists of Mad Magazine.

No way!!!
