Oh that is seriously gorgeous! Doug and Warlock, and a very strategically posed, underage naked Captain Brtiain so the CCA wouldn't have multiple aneurysms.
Brilliant work from Joe, of course.
And a great appeal to some boy readers too! :)
As moody, gothic and atmosopheric as only Gene Colan could make it, with amazing inks too.
Terrific page from a great issue.
Good Lord! That is an amazing style!
Love the dynamics, quietly emphasising that Jetstream can turn and Cannonball can't!
A creepy atmospheric page from a memorably freaky story! My congratulations on the acquisition.
Oh that is STUNNING!
Amping up their body horror a bit, but not too much!
Later in the series, we find that Doug did actually spend a slightly drunken night with Danger (We don't get any details beyond that), which upsets Warlock a LOT!
A memorable page from an enjoyably macabre issue. (and the first page of original art from that story I can recall seeing)
A suitable florid villain monologue followed by a very kinetic set of panels as the deathtrap is triggered and Batman takes action!
Great stuff!
Memorably, and weirdly beautifully, grotesque!
Oh, VERY nice! I'm not familar with this artists work, but I aim to correct that oversight!
With the greatest respect to Glynis Oliver, who a brilliant colourist, the clearer inked work here, especially on Douglock, is gorgeous.
I don't think I've ever seen Art Adams draw the Marvel Family, but this is stylish as heck!
Jeffrey Brown's style is instantly recognisable, and this is a delightful card!
I do like the rejected design better than the one used, and this is a terrific recreation of it!
A superb page that would look cluttered in the hands of anyone other than a master on the level of JLGL
This issue was a highlight of the series, the gorgeous Alan Davis art, the wonderfully silly storyline.. those were the days!
A superb piece! Love him making the Dick Grayson representative the Burt Ward version!
An excellent set of sketch cards of the team, but Doug is always a favourite New Mutant!
A wonderful page, with Alan Davis art, my favourite mutant omniglot, a team group shot (plus Betsy) and heroic dedication being reaffirmed!
Loving Warlock in this, and extra credit to the letterer for Warlock's emoji-based assessment of what Doug means to him!
What a fantastic cover it would have made!
The effort you put into finding it was well worth it!
I remember seeing not nearly as good photos of it (on ebay I think) years ago, and always thought this a stunning piece, so am glad it has ended up with someone who clearly loves it, and has given us all a chance to see a much better scan!
An awesome page right here!
I actually think this was one of the first Avengers comics I ever bought off the spinner rack in a local newsagent (It had a giant robot on the cover, what's not to love?)
Sadly, no. The UK only published up until the end of the US comics released (as a backup in the UK Transformers comic) and then stopped. Believe me, I HOPED that it would continue, but it didn't.
A phenomenal, and significant, page from a terrific issue and Don Newton's work has rarely looked better!
That's just.. I mean "Wow!" seems inadequate, but it's all I've got at the moment because that is breathtaking!
Big fan of the cartoon and toyline, and will always be at least a little salty they cancelled the comic halfway through a story, especially one that gave the female Visionaries their own powers!
Big fan of Parobeck, and this page is a beautiful example of why.
A lovely tribute to a classic cover, and one of the best artists in the business!
A very nice take on one of my favourite of his costumes
Gorgeous!
When I think "Golden Age Batman and Robin", Sprang is who I always think of.
It's pretty much impossible to go wrong with Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, who makes even characters I don't care for look awesome, so imagine how delightful I think THIS is! :D
A terrific pick-up for you! :)
Always nice to see these two together, and this is from a pretty good story too!
Look, it's not enough you get all the cool Bill S. New Mutants stuff, and that terrific Davis Doug and Warlock portrait, but now you have to go and flaunt THIS truly remarkable commission in our faces? You cad! You monster!!
Seriously though, I am in awe of this!
A terrific piece, from one of the under-appreciated greats
A breath-taking page from a terrific annual!
It's a terrific image, though the date is also puzzling, as the Project Pegasus Saga was in 1979, and his solo series didn't start until 1989.
So what would require an image like that halfway between the two?
Possibly a failed pitch?
Terrific page!
Phoenix pretending to be Shadowcat is fun, with the associated... umm... physical discrepancies! ;)
