You're mistaken that the dude is her boyfriend.  They may not be married but the triplicate dude from Cargg is Apparition's father.  I don't believe we ever spelled it out in the book but this is how Tinya survived getting blasted by the Daxamite... Although one of her bodies died, sure...

Awesome idea and execution.  Doing the Triple Lindy!  Love this movie and living in Madison, WI where they filmed part this on campus was a bonus when I moved up here.
