I hear ya. As a kid of the '80s and teen of the '90s my real intro was more the Danny Ketch GR, when Marvel was releasing tons of #1 new issues in the early '90s. But...I found JB later and LOVED his original look and flava, nay, fire (pun!) and do to this day.

Thanks for all the great observations, as per usual, Jason! Always dig how you see things I don't in these pieces. Love the comment about being "encased"...totally see that and it does add a darker kinda vibe.
This piece was also actually used for the CAF Update 282 preview image! Kinda cool in that the bottom half was cropped to fit into the rectangular space and his body arm positioning works perfect covering said space including the lettering :)
