Paul Smith - Green Goblin Owner: Justin Leigh Leiter Comment posted on 2/14/2025 You really scored! Worth the wait. The inks aren't faded they are just thinned. I have ten of his pieces and sometimes the inks are blacker than others, it depends on how low his inkwell is, but it wasn't left in the sun. I like seeing more of the inks and of course it doesn't matter when scanned and used in publications which is the natural course of the process. Enjoy! |

Fantastic Machine Man illustration from Paul Smith! Beautiful pinup reminiscent of Jack Kirby and Mike Royer's work on Machine Man. Smith combines a very Kirby-esque pose with Mike Royer-like inks for a winning combination. Great pick-up, congrats! Paul said it was his second attempt. The first drawing was full length but he said he was disappointed, it wasn't exciting enough! Not super familiar with the character he took som liberties which I love! Wilding out but keeping the Kirby essense. So glad I went with this request! |

AWESOME. I love giving artists something outside their regular wheelhouse - and your choice is inspired! Loooove X-51 (though I'm more partial to the Earth X version Alex Ross conceived). Paul rocked this piece- congrats! Many thanks Jason! Had to look up Ross' interpretation. A bit on the Rom side, but I quite like where he takes characters. Thanks for that head's up! |

Lush inks that Smith does to recapture the Kirby/Royer look of Machine Man. Very stylish and bold as Smith wants to impart to you that X-51 power! As you said Marcus! "Impart" is absolutley a good choice of description. Imparting brutalism! |

WOW. Great colors over Paul's excellent artwork - and the decision to color the background to look like an old comic's yellowed paper is inspired! Top work! Standing ovation all around! Besides, I loooove Paul's Asgardian art! I want more! Hye Jason! Yeah Gerry really does amazing color work, right down to the faded pages (and sometimes even an added errant staple on the side!) Check out my Paul Smith color gallery to see more of his treatments. And there's a Lady SIf in there - another Asguardian treat! |

Power Man Erik Josten by Paul Smith Owner: Gary Chamberlain Comment posted on 3/25/2021
Gary Chamberlain said:
Yeah, I understand. I saw the Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel that were still available recently and debated in my head for so long (cause that's when I went on my Legion original art spree and pretty much taped out of all disposable cash) that by the time I said "Do it anyway!" it was too late. Refreshed and they were gone. We think alke! And not surprising, as collectors. I think what makes this drawing great, in particular, is it's a character that Smith has probably drawn here for the first time. It was a blog post first (as I'm sure you know) and I printed it out on standard paper and taped it to the wall and lived with it for awhile. Sometimes that's enogh. (Until you get the original and see the inking.) Back to first time drawing characters, I scored the Lady Sif drawing last year and it is techinically wonderful, so tight, full of little lines and tiny cross hatching with white ink. Again I'm guessing it was his first time on the character and put in extra care. All to say EXCELLENT choice, this drawing, well done. |

Power Man Erik Josten by Paul Smith Owner: Gary Chamberlain Comment posted on 3/25/2021 Gary, I check Paul's site constantly and occasionally I have the opportunity to get some things while they are actually still available. And it's rare that I have regrets. But this one a piece that I could have purchased and let it go. Simply a fantastic pose and a classic bronze age feel. Excellent score!! And yes, a little bit jealous over here.
