This not a prelim. It's the final pencils. Editorial didn't like the leg position. So there was not enough time to redraw so they had Breeding lightbox inks over these pencils. So this is the final pencils. Almost like how they blueline ink things these days. I've seen the inked version almost bought it once and at the top it even says breeding after Gammill. So this is the pencilled cover.
I am so glad you were able to snag this. Especially since I know you got it for less than the eBay auction. It's a huge score only trumped by your 82 double splash that you own.

Ron Frenz is one of those artists that does not get enough credit. He’s so good, and when you team him with an insane finisher like Joe it brings it to another level.
It’s not an exact recreation, but close. The pose is from his Superman unchained variant and the wall is from adventures 501. Wanted the best of both worlds😉

DUDE!!!!! All I can say is WOW. I feel like I’m 8 or 9 again looking at this cover. I was more of a dc guy but I loved Mark on Spider-Man. I prefer him to Romita Jr. I thought he was up there with Romita sr.
