Thanks- Oddly, the Darkseid panel was slightly altered for the published page, I'm assuming to make room for the 3 boxes of dialogue, and I'm not entirely convinced Giffen's hand did it.
I'm glad mine looks better.
Magnus: I was a good boy, and I learned a few things, like this.
I'm not a fan of AI 😂
Currently he's my go-to inker for my commissions- He just does not miss.
I wish I knew more about the piece and the artist. "Fabris." It's on 1-ply, so I don't think it was part of a book, but there seems to be a story behind it.
I'll need to find a digital colorist to add some POP! to my commissions.
He said they were used for childrens T-shirts at the attraction. I should try to find one.
I believe he said they were, but I can't recall in what way (merchandise or just for the attraction itself). I just sent him a message asking, so stay tuned.
Thanks- I always appreciate your insightful comments!
And his art always transfers so well when shrunk to pin size (examples included with the other 3). I've seen some sloppy Disney pins, but Mike's designs are always perfect.
I don't see an option for including the artist's name when adding images to the Monthly Sketchbook, and (apparently like many others), I don't want to add it to the title.
If there's a way to post to the sketchbook directly from my own gallery so all the info is included, rather than from my files. please share.
I just had to have him on the page enjoying the show, and Val delivered perfectly. I hadn't considered him waiting to take on the winner- Great idea!
This is easily at the top of my Hulk vs Thing collection.
I grew up with Charlie & Humphrey! Great to see them- Nice!
One of the best FF illustrations I've seen. I should consider BT for a commission.
Thanks! I plan to show this to Mike Royer- Curious what he'll think. Because it's Kirby-style Black Panther, I think it's safe to assume Koblish had the Kirby/Royer duo in mind when he did it (doubt it was Verpoorten or Berry).
Thanks! It just leaps off the page, huh?
Thank you very much, of course,
Yes, each one has an appeal all it's own. I love 'em!
Dynamic art from a truly Dynamic Master! I'm quite envious- Congratulations! ☺
I'm SO sorry I didn't notice this comment sooner. I've been meaning to get all my art scanned, but just never did it yet. I don'y have a scanner large enough, and would have to bring them to a local print shop. When I do, you'll be the first to know!!
Thank you! He hit a home run with this- It's EXACTLY what I described and envisioned when I commissioned it. He really captured the emotion and action from the comics I last enjoyed purchasing new off the rack.
I'm so happy I found this! It explains my panel- VERY helpful info-Thanks for sharing☺
Mike is a buddy of mine and he was telling me yesterday that he hoped you were going to be happy with this. I'm sure he'll be quite pleased to know that you are.
OUTSTANDING! Very atmospheric, you really get the sense the large structure (or perhaps Vader's Command Ship) in the background through the lingering haze of destruction. Great piece!!
That's a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT page from the Kirby/Royer SuperTeam! Congrats on your first Kirby page ☺
I was privileged to see this art at different stages of production while in Mike's possession. Turned out GREAT!!
Indeed! Mike definitely knows the female form. Spooky blank stare in their eyes, though. But hey, they're bimbos. Not that there's anything wrong with that (unless there is).
Absolutely MIND-BENDING!! I can get lost in this while looking at the detail- much like I do with Wrightson's FRANKENSTEIN work. True art!
Thank you for the kind comment :) I'm hoping to ink the staggeringly detailed 'Hulk vs Thing' I commission from Julius, but I don't know if I'll live that long LOL
Thanks. Mike's recreations are probably as close to having a Kirby piece as I'll ever get LOL But I love Mike's work all by itself. He's a superb inker (and a great guy!) :)
I believe Mike said it was inspired by work from Bernie Wrightson.
I had the joy and honor of watching this piece (and many others) as a work in progress. It was so cool observing Mike plan out the character placement. Unfortunately I was unable to see the finished piece before he shipped it to you. Thanks so much for posting it here!
Thanks. As soon as I saw it I new I wanted Mike Royer to recreate and ink it. Perhaps even a mirror image. Then they'll go on the wall.
