Just picked up the title splash to this and a ransom page at a small show.
Piece of history. Would probably be the headline piece in a HA auction. Great page, thanks for showing.
You know how I feel about this piece....great great great score.
I really like that. Has a Russ Manning feel to it also.
Well that's something you dont see every day. Great piece!
I think what gets me, is that there is no black on the piece. No "x" filled areas with just straight black. I dont know if Al was inking in brush or some sort of caligraphy pen, but the only way an area appeared black was just by his layering of straight lines on top of or at angles to each other. Darkness is built up, not plopped down. Im just looking more at it now. I never noticed the effect till holding it my hands. Its like he is inking assuming it will be printed in black and white. I also noticed the only ink that faded on this piece is his 2nd signature in the bottom in on the outer frame border. I wish he was around so i could ask him how he inked this and what type of pens he used. Anyway, rambling.
Just so cool. Screams “70s war comic” in that iconic way.
It's one of those rare pages that sort of unites collectors. It's a singular page everyone remembers but that also fully defines one of the most important comics of all time. This is something special, congratulations on getting this.
I am definitely a fan of these pick ups. Great scores! Thats always been one of my favorite stories to read. Would love a great page from it myself (let alone a cover lol).
Still very high on my want list :-) Great piece.
That's my favorite so far. I've always loved his Magik. Does the nice artist sketch edition use the same image on the back as the standard version?
Nice nice nice. I love the looseness and familiarity of the signatures on the pieces too, makes it feel more personal and not just some static graph. As perfect a kirby pick up as you can make, nice job.

Well I dont hate that at all, nope not one bit.
Kinda beautiful, innit? Congrats on having one of the best collections in the world, i feel crappy about mine now lol.
WOW, thats a great page. Iconic page from one of the bigger comics of the silver age. Great piece.
As pure a piece of DC love as possible. What a great concept for a piece. That should be a print. Great item.
Just so interesting and beautiful!
